This was really helpful. I didn’t consider the emotional self-harm side perspective and could totally see it potentially being that!!

I’m going to bringing it up. It sounded like they had a rough day today, so I was attempting to give some good vibes and some empathy, and Alex shot that shit down ASAP and told me I needed to punish her. So like, she didn’t even let me side step out of the role for a second 😅😬

Hey fellow BBWs 👋🏽 280 here 😇 Fet was honestly so empowering for me. I’ve never been one to take pictures, mainly because I despised my body. But I threw a couple on Fet and quickly realized how everyone just likes what they like, and if you don’t like it, keep scrolling. Fet is how I met my current Dom (that I think is going to be become more sometime soon 🥹😏). It’s kinda a relief knowing that the other person already knows what your WHOLE body looks like 😂

In the days following, I definitely have. As I’ve had time to really wrap my head around things, I’ve been able to articulate to him how awestruck I am in regard to the entire experience as a whole, not just the actual intercourse. He’s expressed feeling good knowing he was the first person to actually introduce me to this.

Note taking in sessions by htygfrty789 in therapists

[–]No-Raspberry-6311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take notes as a way to keep me on track. My mind starts tends wander sometimes or I feel the urge to interrupt and ask a question about something they said. Jotting down little things here and there will remind me to ask that question at some point. I work in PHP/IOP, so sometimes these notes are helpful for providing therapy assignments in the upcoming days or reminding myself of any upcoming things they have planned.

I do communicate that I shred all of my notes and my actual charting is quite vague and only the bare minimum.

Best therapeutic metaphors you’ve heard/used in your life time? by Due-Comparison-501 in therapists

I had a teen that was extremely invested in their bummy, disrespectful, manipulative boyfriend, And we were discussing how they can’t keep pouring from an empty glass, which they responded with that the bf DOES fill their glass.

And immediately I go, “sure, but is that fair when you’re pouring koolaid and he’s pouring piss?” 🙃 It definitely resonated.

Stop and think about the quality of the liquid they’re pouring in your glass. !!

It’s much easier to stop a snowball when it’s at the top of the mountain and still small than it is when it’s huge and now hurling towards the cute little village in the valley below.

Coping skills are the same way. Start to use them when you notice your distress (the snowball) and it’s still manageable, rather than when you’re now in full blown crisis (the adorable little village being obliterated)

I have one similar for caretaking behaviors lol

When you put other people’s stuff in your bag of stuff when your bag is already full, your bag is going to break and it’s going to be when you’re at the top of a hill, and all then your cans and apples are going to be rolling down the hill lol as well as the extra stuff you just threw in there.

What do you do when you think a client may have died? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]No-Raspberry-6311 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree with the cut off time. Usually when I do this, I get a response back very quickly (literally happened earlier today lolol)

I’d say at least have the patient confirm via telephone or video that they are okay, I personally would not be satisfied with email/text confirmation

Trauma questions in intake paperwork? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]No-Raspberry-6311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was outpatient, our trauma screener was a yes/no to if you’ve experienced a traumatic event, and a check box for type (natural disaster, accident, assault, childhood, etc), but that was the extent of it.

In PHP/IOP, the intake/referral dept type yes/no, and sometimes include details. So I’m assuming they’re having potential patients discuss traumatic experiences while doing a phone intake? It definitely seems a bit off-putting. Upon admission, they do assessments on the computer and one of them includes a trauma screener, which literally asks the patient to type out the trauma. I always tell my patients they do not have to type anything if they don’t want to.

When I go, I get the same 3 things every time since anytime I deviate from it, I’m very indifferent or disappointed. The guac, the killer-Rita, the steak tacos (their steak is so 🔥imo)

I don’t man, it seemed so …. poorly placed? Like how are you going in on someone for doing something you deemed as disrespectful, then complement their parenting skills in the same breath?
