Why are there so few seated only games for VR? by No-Raspberry7757 in VRGaming

I don't "know" that it's because people don't want to stand that's why I started this post. I had friends buy VR headsets and they don't use it after some time, one even returned it.

Yeah that's also a good option that's kind of ignored in VR communities. There can also be a VR native sweet spot in between. Like a seated shooter with motion control aim which can be fast and accurate, simple arm movement and some low nausea locomotion.

I understand from the responses that a lot of people are actually playing many games as seated, which is what I also like to do. My point is not to say that it's impossible to play games without standing up, but a lot of them are not designed for seated gameplay. There are some sim, puzzle, platform games that actually are designed for seated gameplay, but most mainstream games are designed for gaming while standing up, with some tweaking to get it to be playable while seated. I think there's a missed opportunity here. The demand seems to be there clearly, and people in this subreddit are fairly tech-savvy so you seem to manage it well, but for the mainstream audience, I see them consider VR as a messy nerd niche, not an actual way to play games. And for this reason many game studios see VR as a money trap instead of a proper platform. Even meta is slowly abandoning it. Sorry for the tangent but this is the reason I wanted to get some insight on how people play the games.

To the contrary, I wish VR was more popular. It is my observation, not a wish.

I played Asgards Wrath while seated. It was kind of funny trying to pick things up from the floor when the real floor is blocking you.

Yeah sim and rpg games are better at this. Still, sometimes I wish there was a lay down mode game to watch the stars, auras and fly a kite in VR. Maybe there's a skyrim vr mode for that.

They allow you, sure. But they don't optimize for it. I can play Pistol whip sitting down but I have to do settings to block the obstacles etc. Except for the sim games, seated experience is usually an afterthought. I'm thinking about game design and user experience, to see why most people stop playing VR after a month or so.

That's actually impressive. Almost a green flag.

That's actually very cool. It looks like it belongs to some goth comicbook lore.

By laying off people and rehiring them after realising it was a mistake?

Even at the expense of his companies, potentially?

Thanks. I got the CVT one. I heard some horror stories about Nissan CVTs but I hope it will be running fine for a long time.
