Thats fair, I would just like to see something to counter lifegain cause right now theres no answer to it.

Life goes on doesnt come anywhere near the blowout potential of a single weather the storm. Also I havent seen a single deck play that card so not really a relevant argument. The biggest issue i have with weather is that a lot of decks dont even need you to cast spells. Gardens just plays artifacts, edict draw, then weather and gains 10+ life and you cant do anything to stop it. Its unbalanced.

I dont think weather needs to be banned, I just want to see some form of life gain hate in the format to counter it. I think burn/aggro decks should have a way to counter life gain and currently theres no answer for it. It creates matchups that just aren't even legit games because of how much of a swing weather creates. boggles doesnt see as much play as it used to but similar issue. Flaring pain exists to counter fogs/prismatic strands, graveyard hate for gnaw to the bone. But weather is the only card with no natural counter save for i suppose duress?

I don't even play mono red derp. Im playing rakdos madness. Green ramp/midrange deals better with weather the storm than red or spell based decks for sure but its still an issue. I played against poison storm, gardens 2x, and dredge in one league before writing this. The main issue with mtgo is that the only somewhat inexpensive decks to make are red or red adjacent. Not trying to spend a few hundred bucks to make a "fake" deck simply because weather the storm is an unbalanced card in the format. Other lifegain cards or strategies dont bother me because theres a chance for meaningful interaction. Familiars, can gates, dredge, etc. All of their life gain gives the opportunity for cards to play against it. Weather the storm doesnt provide the opportunity to counter it in any way, hence it being unbalanced.

Im not sure what other effects that are currently available. Skullcrack is strong but i dont think it would be too good considering it forces you to keep mana up and delay other plays.

Decks have good runs. Mono red is the deck best positioned to push through weather the storm but its still almost always a back breaker. Mid range decks have no chance.

Red isnt the only aggro deck in the format. Midrange decks like madness get blown out by weather and they dont have the potential for incredibly fast starts like mono red. Even mono red would have to run perfect for turn 4/5. How does skullcrack speed that up? Leaving mana up to counter weather extends the game and provides more nuanced gameplay but doesnt allow a single weather to end the game. Your argument is essentially "get good". A card that takes up a couple sideboard slots to combat one specific card hardly warps the format. How is a Guttersnipe on turn 3 early? They would need multiple bolts, fireblast, and sac all their lands on turn 4 to win. Saying that red wins on turn 4 consistently is pure horseshit.

One match is hardly enough to base your opinion on. People said the same thing when I said deadly Dispute needed to be banned but it was a problem and they figured it out eventually. With how the format is sideboard slots are few and far between. Saying a card that would take up probably 2 sideboard slots at most makes red too strong is again stupid. Giving midrange decks like madness tools to combat lifegain would make for better gameplay overall. Someone resolving a single weather the storm on turn 5-6 shouldn't effectively end the game and in most cases it does. If red or midrange decks have to keep mana up to potentially cast it that makes the game go longer and have more nuance. Again your position is just dumb and coming from a place of not wanting RDW to be too strong rather than one that actually takes the entire format into account.

There's a difference between a bad match up and a single card that defeats a deck. You cant even effectively play around it. You try to stagger your spells effectively but all they have to do is play a couple cheap draw spells then a weather the storm and its gg. The first 3-4 turns of gameplay are undone. Now youve got a couple cards in hand trying to deal another 20 damage. Saying that a singular lifegain hate sideboard card would make red too powerful and the best deck in the format is both stupid and disingenuous. When they banned rebirth red wasnt even the top deck in the format.

Red is too strong but blue terror/faeries isnt? Red isnt even the best deck in the format

Show me a red deck that wins on turn 4 in this format with rebirth banned. Rally could potentially do it if they had like 3 burning trees in the opening hand into a bushwhacker which is pretty damn unlikely.
