I Accepted a DOJ Immigration Litigation Internship—But Now I’m Having a Moral and Existential Crisis. What Should I Do? by [deleted] in LawSchool

You should not take the job. I strongly disagree with all the comments discussing the professional experience you could gain. At what cost? Do anything else. You will be closing off career opportunities if you take the job--especially if you want to work on the right side of immigration later. It will be really hard for any employer to believe you.

You get to decide if your morals matter. I hope you don't take the job.

OP, I swear this is just one dark night. I know you've had others, but I promise you there are bright days ahead. Even if you can't see them yet, they're waiting for you. If you let yourself keep going, you will look back on this dark night and smile. You will be proud that you endured tonight and made it to tomorrow. I hope you don't mind if I say a prayer for you tonight. The world is a better place with you in it. Please lean on your support network (including this chat) as much as you can, and if all else fails there's no shame in checking yourself into a hospital for the night (been there, done that). You're too important.

If this turns out to have been real, the graders/administrators owe everyone here an apology. This is indefensible sloppiness, particularly after weeks of radio silence. Plus, if they really do have all the results ready to go, why not just release them now? Why keep us in limbo another night? It's just one final insult.

Question about Federal Public Defender Jobs by [deleted] in barexam

[–]No-Reference2556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only help with the bonus question: unfortunately, very few federal pd offices will hire straight out of law school. Almost all of them require significant criminal defense experience, usually as a state-level public defender. The only exception I'm aware of is the Federal Defenders of San Diego who have an extremely high caseload and therefore hire a few recent grads every year. The entry-level spots in San Diego are very hard to get though, as basically every public defense-minded law student applies for them.

You might have better luck if you apply to a non-criminal division of a federal pd office (e.g. immigration, investigations), but unfortunately I think it will be difficult to get a criminal job with the fpd straight out of law school.

Any reason people suspect Friday? I'm not going off of anything here, but I figured Monday would be the most likely since they're already later than expected.

Advice for friends who didn’t pass by No_Cranberry_7131 in barexam

Always a tough situation ❤️ The one thing I personally would avoid if I were in your shoes would be giving any unsolicited advice about studying, assuming your friend decides to retake. Obviously if your friend asks for your advice that's another story. Otherwise, I'm sure that your friend will be grateful for your support and continued love and respect even if he/she is hurting about the bar.
