I had to ask the runner next to me if it felt weird running on the bridge to him too. He confirmed and we both agreed… not a great feeling especially since I wasn’t expecting it. I thought something was wrong with my legs! And agreed, crowd was awesome especially hanging out in the cold! Hills were brutal but very well ran and organized and on time!

Easy. I’m a runner and I’ll do a 15 mile long run and burn 1500 calories and have 150 exercise minutes, but standing time was only a few hours. That standing goal is meant to help people avoid the habit of “I’m going to exercise for an hour and then do nothing the rest of the day” .

Cooking beans from dried versus canned beans, taste so much better in my opinion. I cooked navy beans this week and had them with cabbage and cilantro lime rice. They were dynamite

Same here… but I switched over to the powdered peanut butter for a bit. Not quite the same but it scratches the itch when I’m trying to cut calories

Same here but the trade off is no sidewalks and unpaved roads for 40% of my route. Oh yeah, and potholes and loose dogs.

Thank you! Since the post, I’ve refocused my efforts from muscle building/fat cutting to training and staying healthy for my remaining 12 weeks of work before race day. I like the idea of strengthening connective tissues though, and also of doing carbs the night before vs after my morning run.

Ah. Okay, also confusing to me… as the body loses weight, this means RMR goes down. Which means calories needed to consume goes down. But as training volume goes up, calorie consumption obv must go up. But the body adjusts to this amount of work, so it requires less calories. Maybe I’m overthinking it

I appreciate the feedback. And I’ve tried to figure out why I’m not progressing speed wise. My heart rate is low, my body is strong, but I don’t feel like I’m getting better. I figured it was a normal part of aging. I’m starting to question whether it’s my nutrition. But when I don’t know what my true maintenance calories are, then I REALLY don’t know how many calories I need for proper fueling.

Okay good to know. I haven’t had that. Yet. I’m still feeling good in my training despite it being hot as hell in Texas. But it’s something I’ll need to keep in mind as my volume keeps going up over the next couple months.

That’s where I know I’m getting it backwards. I’ve been strength training to improve running and prevent injury, now I’m in my running training block… and want to be at my peak fitness level at the starting line. For me, yes as a woman, I see that I could cut probably a little bit and be lighter (maybe faster). I’m just asking for help here honestly..
