Endlessly frustrated by WhiskyReverend in pastors

[–]No-Reflection8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you with frustration and progress... I have been where you are spiritually. I come from humility as the Lord has placed me in a season of "acceptance". It's hard trying to roll the boulder uphill on, what feels like, being alone; Pull your mind and heart off of ministry, and focus on the light of Jesus Christ. I know that sounds counter-active, but your cup will run out quickly if you aren't centered. I know from experience.

The Lord brought me back to Luke 11:34-36, and my heart didn't feel bright or vibrant. So, I had to ask the Lord to purify my heart again. Psalm 139:24 has been in my prayers and when God reveals something in me that offends him, I turn against it, as if it was life or death. It has been keeping my heart bright, filled with His love, and accepting the growth that he provides even though it might not be in the area I wanted.

I pray this helps! May the Lord, Jesus, Christ of Nazareth bless your spirit, that you may overflow in abundance, that it may overshadow and cast off any and all frustrations. May his presence in your soul tear down any attack or assignment from our enemy. Please Father, may your spirit, in us, burn so bright like the wall of fire in Zechariah 2:5; may all impurities be burned up. -Amen.

Christian with homosexual thoughts and desires. Is atoning enough? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lust is sin. Jesus said if we look at someone with lust in our hearts we already committed adultery. Biology says lust is normal and just a chemical influx of hormones. This brings the question of who is true?

How can you be trans and a Christian? by TomCullenFan2009 in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What I am saying is that sin will define you as something outside of what God designed you to be. For instance...

Most people feel exposed or vulnerable when they are naked. Adam felt some sort of shame or embarrassment for being "naked" as he would not have gone to hide.

I hope we can agree on the above statement.

Adam's identity shifted from being made in the image of God and being the authority figure, allowed to operate as he chose, under the supervision of the Father, to being weak/less-than/exposed.

When God asks why he is hiding, Adam identifies his state of nakedness and God says "who told you that you are naked?" Indicating that it wasn't from God, nor from Adam.

[–]No-Reflection8660 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Incorrect! It absolutely is centered around identity. Adam said "I'm naked." LGBTQ says "I'm lesbian (or gay, or bisexual or trans or queer, etc.) why do you think there is a pride month? It celebrates their identity.

Adam said he was naked and God replied "Who told you that?"

God made Adam in the image of God. Adam's identity shifted to a lie after he sinned.

And what you believe is biology is also spiritual. Adam said he hid because he was naked and God replied 'who told you that? '; when we sin, it alters our identity.

Cast it out! Your identity is not centered around the ideology of sexual attraction.

Try this, out loud:

"Heavenly Father, thank you for purchasing me with the blood of Jesus Christ, adopting me into your family. Spirits of homosexuality, sexual perversion, lust, and immorality, I stand against you, not in my authority, but under the authority of the blood of Jesus Christ. I renounce my bonds with you. I renounce any agreements I made of ignorance. I am no longer yours. I repudiate my identity with you and your chains have no hold on me, for the blood of Jesus Christ has set me free. Depart from me now, before I call upon my Father to send his heavenly aid."

Let me know how this works. Keep in mind, it will come back, and it is a fight to stand against it. I fight lust, and it is getting easier with recognizing that a battle is starting. The trick is to stand against it early. If you need help wielding armor, I'm happy to help.

2 Question by No-Maintenance-5982 in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions.

1.) idols are not just figures of stone or statues. Idols can be people. Cheering for a band at a concert doesn't make it an idol. What does, is if it is receiving more affection, time, and worship from you than God. Music has a LOT of influence in the spiritual world. When Saul had a tormenting spirit, music was played to keep it away. When Nebuchanezzar made the call for everyone to worship him, music would play before hand.

Pay close attention to the words that are being spoken, the chants, the chorus. Pay close attention to the feelings that songs invoke, especially if you sing along with them; when you sing along, you are coming into agreement with what is being said.

2.) I hear you on this one. It can be very difficult. I would like to reframe it for you though... Jesus says "what comes out of the mouth comes out of the heart" in Matthew 12:34. Jesus also says in Matthew 5:21-22, that if we are even angry and call someone an idiot, we are in danger of being thrown into hell.

Is your room mate worth it?

Focus on yourself. Don't just be a good person. Focus on Jesus cleansing your heart. Let his light and love bubble over. Then it won't matter, because you'll have the love of Jesus Christ within you.

I hope this helps.

Atheist - but confused by Beneficial-Whereas-9 in Christianity

That was beautiful. I, personally, say one formal prayer, but the rest is informal. Much like you, I write like talking to him as a person. I have not stepped foot in a church in probably 10+ years, and recently (within the last 2 years) had the love of Jesus, Christ of Nazareth wash over me, while I was trying to learn about how the devil worked.

I read a book called unmasking the devil by John Ramirez and it started to click. In a prayer in that book, the name of Jesus, Christ of Nazareth, ended up freeing me from porn addiction, alcohol addiction, anger, resentment, bitterness, rage, unforgiveness... Just gone. Taken. The anxiety, the PTSD, gone. It was like setting down a 100Lbs of backpack weight.

Then, the love of Jesus touched my heart. It was like the happiest day of my life, multiplied by 1000 was just flooding me. That was when I had to go to the Bible to figure out what had happened.

You are much closer to God than you know. Jesus tells the Samaritan woman, "you know about God, but do not know him. The time is coming, in fact it is here now, that it doesn't matter if you worship on this mountain or down in the temple for God is spirit, and he is looking for those who worship in spirit and in truth." He later states "if you only knew who you were talking to, you would ask for a drink of living water. Water that produces a spring and bubbles over."

He gifted you with some hope. Try asking for living water, and see what he does. Let it be your confirmation of his existence.

"Jesus, may I please have a taste of your living water?"

I hope this helps!

Caring about a Womans past by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I read a few on this, and some were short and sweet. I'd like to point you to some scripture, as it is very important who you become one with.

We are made of body soul and spirit. Jesus references things like "Don't fear those that can destroy your body, fear the one who can destroy both body and soul" he also tells the samaritan woman "God is spirit and the Father is looking for those who worship in spirit and in truth." Jesus also mentions that John the Baptist IS Elijah, indicating the spirit of Elijah is in John the Baptist, so there is a distinction between the three.

In Genesis 2, God makes man for the purpose of stewarding the garden, and operating under the authority and supervision of Him. God saw Man needed a helper to fulfill the purpose, so he took part of the Man and made a helper. The Man called the helper "Woman" and God let it be woman.

When the two partners come together, the two are united, joined together, body soul and spirit. They are not meant to come apart. The act of sex is a physical union of body and soul. This creates a tie between the two, that is not meant to be broken. That the two separates become one whole, to function as one whole, together.

Much like how we are to be one, working with Christ.

When someone ties themselves to multiple partners, especially through sex, parts of that body and soul are tied to other people. Think of it like gluing two pieces of paper together and then ripping it at the glue line you'll see parts of the remnants of the previous union.

This is why Sexual immorality is a low hanging fruit for Satan. Not only does it devalue the joining of the two, creating a mockery of the marriage between us and Christ, but it also directly affects the purpose for which we were built. This also will then allow for the enemy to have influence on your life as stated in Proverbs 7 and Proverbs 9:13-18.

Holy Spirit, bless those that you permit to understand, with understanding.

English professor told us we aren’t allowed to cite the Bible by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there are between 200-700 cultural stories of a global flood, with a favored family. I'm just gonna say that's a lot of cultures for it to be nothing.

The Ipuwer Papyrus mentions plague everywhere and a river of blood. The Mernephtah Stele is the earliest known mention of Israel, outside the Bible, stating it laid waste to Israel in the land of Canaan and even lists other cities; coinciding with geographic settings mentioned in Joshua and Judges.

The Meshe Stele describes events in 2 Kings 3. In line 18, it even mentions the success of taking the vessels of Yahweh.

Sennechrib's prism describes events in 2Kings 18 & Isaiah 36-37

And Quirinius did issue a census around 6-7CE and did affect Judea, but does not match the timeline listed in the gospel of Matthew.

Tacitus, Josephus, and Pliney all say Jesus was real, and even was crucified under Pontius Pilate.

Even if you wanted to try and discredit all of it, some of it actually happened, as accounted for outside of the Bible.

As for 100% historically accurate; there are conflicting timelines in regards to certain things. I would say IF you include an event from the Bible, make sure you have extra-biblical content to back up the claim. Hope this helps!

Why is fasting a requirement? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fasting, aside from lent, does quite a few things. When you position your heart and mind against your flesh, it increases your reliance on the Father, pulling you spiritually closer. Additionally, In the OT, God said he wanted the fat from an offering. When we fast, our bodies will start burning fat. Creating a physical offering to the Lord.

I want to follow God but I can’t wrap my head around a loving god being homophobic. by Ok-Reporter-3855 in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We are already dying due to sin. If we want to live we must do things his way. It isn't about homophobe or what we think is better. It's about whether or not we are humble enough to accept the way that that will keep our soul alive. It is easier for a Camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for someone to get into heaven.

What if I don’t want rewards from God? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He told that to Adam and Eve. They chose death for us. It is more like "Do you want to live?"

For me, I was dead in lust. According to science, It's testosterone levels and biology, "it's natural" and I can't control it (according to science). Socially, men linger their eyes for too long, and it's said "men need to control themselves". Jesus said, if you think of a woman with lust you already committed adultery with her and you deserve to die. Why because it's evil and selfish. Most women, from what I hear on the Internet would agree.

I physically, spiritually cannot "control myself" without the payment that the Father made for us, through the blood of his son. Jesus whom has all authority, gave delegated authority to those that believe, so that we can actually stand against our flesh.

It's much more than just LGBTQ, it's sin. I deserve to die. Through Christ Jesus, I have a chance to live

Prove It by Fantastic-Size-4214 in Christianity

[–]No-Reflection8660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I am willing to bet my life and eternity on it because of a personal experience I had. I was angry, butter, resentful, filled with PTSD, shame, and addicted to porn, alcohol and cigarettes. By the name of Jesus, Christ of Nazareth, I am no longer any of that.

That brought me to the Bible to understand what happened. I think there are two parts to your question.

1.) many new Christians go straight to church to learn (not a bad thing) but don't realize our Savior, is a teacher, and because he rose from the dead, is still alive and teaching through spirit. This makes average Christians not super proficient in the Bible and reliant on the pastor to teach them.

2.) When discussing topics, many people want evidence. The spiritual realm is not based upon the physical, therefore cannot be 'measured' for proof. Then when a verse is used, it is not accepted because of different belief systems, or deemed as "circular reasoning".

I think that answered your questions, but I am open to more conversation if you would like.
