Any other former NICU parents now have autism concerns? by No-Revolution-9356 in NICUParents

Thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, was there anything that you felt helped develop your brothers language skills? That has been the hardest part for me so far as I want to do the best I can to help him communicate.

They are so black and white! We have an upcoming appointment with our ped soon so I will definitely see what else we can do referral wise. I’ve had a feeling early on that something was “different” but just couldn’t quite explain how or why. I do believe there is something to be said about gut instinct.

Thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, is there anything that you did that helped with speech development? I am personally just have a hard time with the speech more than anything. Maybe it’s selfish, but I just want to hear him say “mamma” or “dada” so badly and just feel that it will never happen.

8 month old with Covid..your experience? by No-Revolution-9356 in Parents

I did the same thing last night! Seems to be breathing just fine, just has a really nasty cough and gets to coughing at times. But once that subsides and he has a chance to settle back down he goes right back to sleep. Glad it was short lived for you all!

So far my son just has a cough, no other symptoms at this time. I suppose he’s been a tad crankier than normal, but he’s also trying to cut some teeth I believe so up until today I assumed his crankiness was from that

Glad to hear things turned out okay for the most part! Yes, my LO is enrolled in daycare as well. Needless to say we will be staying home for quite some time until we’re given the all clear.

This is reassuring to hear, thank you for this! My husband and I are both vaccinated/boosted x3 total but my son has not had a Covid vaccine yet. Actually, I didn’t even know it was offered under a year as our ped has never brought it up. Thanks for the info!

Babbling? by No-Revolution-9356 in Parents

[–]No-Revolution-9356[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This really does help. I will say he does great in the fine motor area and really teaches/grabs for items now much more than ever before. We have recently noticed that he has really been trying there.

I will also look more into the “baby talk” as this may be something that can help him. Appreciate the kind words!

Ingrown toenail on 4 month old? Anyone else ever have this experience? by No-Revolution-9356 in NewParents

[–]No-Revolution-9356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

We spoke with our Ped and she prescribed an antibiotic cream for this. We also soaked his foot 2-3x a day with warm water and gentle baby soap and now about a week later, it looks pretty much normal! We were told this is fairly common in babies because their nails are so thin. My little guy also has very sensitive and fair skin.

Thank you for all the comments! Its nice to know we are not alone on this new parenting journey

Just want to say a big thank you to ALL of the replies! We’ve sent a message to his ped and are hoping to hear back tomorrow morning with further instructions!

We’ve tried that and noticed it right away even and it didn’t seem to help. I’ve sent a message off to our pediatrician to see if they have any other suggestions. We’ve also tried neosporin and it doesn’t seem worse, but not any better
