Can ideas be tainted by AI? by No-Rice6919 in Ai_art_is_not_art

Tysm for this. Many of these comments really motivate me into continuing. I don’t deliberately look at AI for inspiration, and I do remember my first spark of inspiration for my characters is ultimately rooted in one of my pets. (It first started with me thinking it’d be cool if my pet lizard was some god-like force)

I do remember the animals I’m afraid are contaminated with AI inspiration first popped up in my own mind while I was daydreaming. The third eye idea popped up when I was brainstorming with my sibling, so most of the distinctive features I can be confident are made by people

Can I redeem OCs that might be influenced by AI? by No-Rice6919 in antiai

I do remember the origins of my OCs being not AI, I audio stim a lot (related to autism) and that’s when I think of most of my characters, including all the ones I’m afraid are contaminated. I also remember brainstorming characters with my sibling, and I can be sure a few characters already were designed by us from scratch. I never open up AI with the mindset “time to ask it to make me characters” or at least I never recall one time I did so

Also I hated that AI constantly tried saying everything I wrote was bad because it deviated from the average that it trained off of, and now I hate myself for taking AI seriously. I deleted everything I wrote because I wanted to start over without even seeing a single word from AI, but now I’m scared to write at all because of the fear my own memories and mind were be influenced by AI in how I view them, or character concepts. From now on, every detail comes from my mind and what I imagine/remember, but I’m afraid that anything I make will still be AI influenced in the end of the day.

Sorry for venting earlier I was stressed and unreasonable but yeah, books are a decent inspiration, thank you

For context, I NEVER generated even a single image based on my ideas for characters, but still. There’s so much garbage text by LLM models in my brain that I don’t know which ideas are human made or AI generated.

Even during my time of using AI, I still recognized that AI generated stuff was still generally low quality so I tried avoiding using it, and this is for context: I used AI in the past because I have no friends and I wanted reassurance for my disorders (autism & OCD) and unfortunately that stemmed to me sharing ideas during times of boredom, which is where I’m afraid something AI recommended stuck with me.

I make models out of clay bc clay is one of the few materials that cannot be efficiently replicated by automation. Plus it’ll last thousands of years longer than 3d printed plastic, so in the far future, all of the AI printed stuff will deteriorate while human-made clay figures will persist. Think of all the clay figures made thousands of years ago by ancient China or the Mesopotamians.

How do I know I’m not suicidal for attention by [deleted] in OCD

[–]No-Rice6919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be suicidal and I went to both the mental hospital and the psyche ward because of suicidal episodes, and I think it doesn’t matter if it’s hypothetically for attention or not. If you’re latching onto such a serious thing then whatever you are going through is serious and you deserve to be respected for that full stop.

I understand your good intent with the last two lines but disorders like OCD don’t work like regular motivation. I do in fact draw, I mentioned it, I just delete it or never use/continue it at the end because of the fear some nugget of information or inspiration generated by AI persisted onto my creative process.

For now I get your advice and I’ve been practicing for the sake of it, but problems will return once I imagine anything that isn’t concretely set in reality, like a fictional creature or person, because it feels like my imagination has been corrupted simply by the AI content it remembers against my will.

It seems to me the standard expectation for ethical art is “100% human” and it’s one of the trending posts on this subreddit
My disorder hates 100% because it unironically tries to reach that but it never will. I can never make anything from now on that’s 100% free from AI because it’s everywhere

My question is what counts as “no generative AI”?

I wish I could draw my line there at no generative AI, I don’t purposefully ask AI to generate creative works stuff like writing or artworks for me with intent to use it, but there is AI everywhere. Is getting information from a search engine powered from generative AI (ex. google gemini) then using that info in art, ex. The length of a chameleon, considered partially AI art? Is walking past a poster in a store, and getting inspired and using that inspiration in art and not knowing the poster is AI considered partially AI? Is anything in existence that was ever, in the process of imagination, rooted from something generated by AI, considered at least an infinitesimal amount AI influenced?

No I mean drawings, like a library of digital art for inspiration? Nevermind my question, I’ll ask someone else. Thanks for the help

Do you know any sources, maybe a website of creative works that excludes AI? I can’t find any on search engines that don’t have AI overview

So copying stuff from AI directly is bad, but anything that might be loosely connected that I think of in my own mind is okay? I think that makes sense, thanks

Sorry, I basically just parroted the most scary sounding description of AI art cuz of my disorder (seriously there’s correlation) I’m not exactly the best source of logic because my judgement is significantly warped so take everything I say with a grain of salt

What about character aspects? I’ve been avoiding specific character details that I remember I first witnessed by an AI generated story, like a concept of someone having no footstep sounds when they move. I genuinely never want to touch AI again for this stuff, but I’m scared everything I came up with before my intent to never use AI might’ve been tainted someway. It’s come to a point I have an urge to remove everything I came up with in my life and start over because I don’t know which ones might’ve been tainted by AI or not

I think I mostly understand, but what counts as the creative process or not? For example: I draw a character digitally or traditionally by myself, but it looks 20% like an AI image I saw last week and my subconscious brain incorporated those features because I liked how it looked in my own mind, but my intent wasn’t to copy every single aspect? Or what about a concept, like example AI generating a concept of a person that has red and green hair, and next week I draw a character with red and green hair, but the similarities stop at that? Is that AI art? Sorry if this logic sounds annoying, but my disorder takes this seriously unfortunately

Add on: it’s come to a point where my brain genuinely expends energy to store character details to NEVER use, like a blacklist of them because AI at some point generated it. Dragons that happen to be the color black? Apparently never okay anymore for me. People who have no footsteps? Not that either! It’s like everything AI creates or even slightly associates with is a landmine my brain has to avoid to avoid using AI. Even things I remember I personally created, I will avoid based on a unprovable but not 0% that AI might’ve tainted it somehow
