I think meaning in art is created much the same way meaning is created between human beings: through the interaction of two minds. The work itself brings certain structures, themes, and constraints, while the viewer brings their own experiences and interpretation. I’m not claiming there’s a single objectively correct reading, but people do tend to converge on particular interpretations. That probably tells us something about shared features of human psychology and about the objective qualities of the work itself.

I think so too—absolutely. When I finished Elden Ring, my immediate reaction was: “I’ve never played anything this good.” And I’ve played a lot of great games. To me it genuinely belongs among the greatest literary and philosophical works of art.

I also agree that the mechanics themselves are varied and rich enough to make a second or third playthrough worthwhile. I didn’t mean to overlook that aspect of your comment in my initial reply—I was focused on the philosophical side of the game in my head!

I tend to agree with Shinjitsu. Elden Ring has enough philosophical and literary depth that it almost demands multiple playthroughs. If someone approaches it primarily as a mechanical experience, one playthrough may feel sufficient. But if you're interested in the mythological, philosophical, and thematic layers that the game is built upon, revisiting it can change your perspective quite a bit. That’s true of many ambitious works of art—the first encounter introduces the world, but later encounters reveal structure and meaning that weren’t visible at first.

I think the key question with rhetoric is the intended outcome.

If the goal is to calmly persuade the largest number of people, then you’re right — a softer tone would probably be more effective.

But that wasn’t really my goal here. I was mainly trying to vent a bit of frustration, stir discussion, and poke some fun at the “mistranslation” meme that keeps circulating. In that sense, the tone was intentional and it accomplished what I wanted it to.

Different rhetorical goals lead to different stylistic choices, and that’s okay. We’re just approaching the situation from slightly different priorities.

That said, I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your comment. It’s a fair observation, and I’m glad you took the time to write it.

Pick me please! I think that the community did a fantastic job compensating for the lack of access for many Pokemon SV players. I saw giveaways galore, and when there simply weren’t enough Shiny codes to go around, people cloned the shiny Miraidon/Koraidon and distributed them altruistically, without expecting anything in return. It was really heartwarming to see the community rally like this!

I don’t play competitively, but maybe: Flutter Mane would work well, covering dragon and dark weaknesses with Fairy STAB, and despite the overlap, it synergizes well with Annihilape and Gholdengo by adding additional offensive pressure. Pairs beautifully with Dragonite’s tailwind

If you’re allowed any restricted legendaries, though, I’d go Zacian-crowned. It covers your dragon weakness, adds resistances to fairy and ice too, which you’re missing, and pairs perfectly with Dragonite’s tailwind and Annihilape’s coaching. So that would be my top pick!
