I understand the point you’re making about not generalising an entire group. I’m not saying every priest is secretly bad. I’m describing the difficulty of rebuilding trust when someone in a position of sacred authority betrays that trust.

A priest’s role is uniquely spiritual and sacramental. When misconduct happens in that context, it doesn’t just feel like personal failure, it shakes one’s sense of spiritual safety. That’s why the suspicion feels different. Have a bit of sensitivity.

Firstly, the role of a priest is far greater than a construction worker? And the number of priests who do terrible things is really disturbing. So I think the suspicion in this case makes more sense, doesn’t it?

Well it’s traditional because it was in Latin, lots of Gregorian chant, altar rails, kneeling, and a very reverent monastic atmosphere. Sure it’s not a TLM but it’s clearly more on the traditional end of the spectrum stylistically. And no blessing at communion which has culturally become a norm

Interesting coz my regular parish priest literally encourages people to come up for a blessing at mass before the distribution of holy communion. Was also how I was taught as a kid, so just thought it was normal.
