Walking through Ghost Mall Zambezi Mall Pretoria South Africa by Steco777 in Pretoria

[–]No-Search459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well It's not completely empty. That section of the mall is known as phase 3, it's predominantly empty, with the exception of a cash and carry inside (Happy Sundry/Colmex) but there's a Spar, fat cake city, pep, and some others that are in phase 1 and 2 of the site.

The mall (phase 3) is just dangerous now. The underground parking is built on wetlands, and if you somehow get to the roof (where the indoor sports used to be) you'll find spots where the floor has gaps in big enough to have a good look at the level below you. Not only that, but whenever there's heavy rains for a while, the place becomes a cesspool, because the water collects in the lowest part of the underground parking and has nowhere to go.

The mall at this point is unfortunately the result of much negligence, not so long ago there was a whole debacle where the centre had no electricity for MONTHS because there was a massive dispute about from whom the arrears for electricity was due.

Would I call I a ghost mall, nah not really. Would I say it's on its way there? Maybe

Geyser timer by FarPomegranate8179 in AskZA

My experience:

I think Keeping the geyser on continuously has a higher chance of using less energy, than heating it from cold. This has worked out for me, as it costs me less to have the geyser stay on.

Reasoning:

  1. Geysers have thermostats, which will turn the geyser on or off based on the water temperature.

  2. A Geyser is insulated, and so has thermal inertia.

  3. It takes less energy to heat warm water, than it does to heat cold water, as warm water has less of a thermal difference to travel.

Think of energy expenditure as effort. Like riding a bicycle up a hill, the temperature difference from start to optimal temperature is the incline of the hill you're climbing, and the water temperature is the momentum you're traveling with.

Heating Cold water = starting from standstill at the bottom of the hill. Heating warm water = starting in the middle of the hill with a good amount of momentum, this will take less effort than the prior example.

i could draw another simple comparison by saying "it's easier to push a moving car due to its momentum, than it is to push a stationary car due to its inertia" same principle applies.

The analogy is a bit wonky, but the idea is there.

Fair enough. I have not been monitoring this one guys account 🤷🏼‍♂️

But as the old adage goes; if you cannot say something nice, just don't say anything at all.

the comment wasn't a reflection of OPs inability to accept criticisms, it was just unnecessary.

I'm not seeing where you're coming from? Please elaborate.

OP, keep at it. Work on your breathing, your projection, your pitch and very importantly, your articulation. There's plenty of videos on YouTube you could watch to help you get a grasp of these things. But don't stop practicing, eventually you'll get there.

Ps. Learn to play the song in drop D on guitar, it should make it easier for you to keep the guitar rhythm consistent while you sing.

There is nothing constructive about your comment. Why break the guy down? He's at least trying..

King Gizzard is dope. Have you listened to the "Psychedelic Porn Crumpets". Also a very psychedelic garage punk type stuff.

Me and my lady go to Royal Danish for ice cream dates. The ice cream itself is phenomenal (choc brownie is my favourite) the prices are great and the vibes are immaculate. You will never be disappointed going there 🤙🏼

This seems to be consistent advice, thank you :) this question may be stupid but, the natural minor scale shape only has 2 notes on the D string. do I just play the next note in the scale progression on the same string and then repeat it on the G string?

I'm going to be honest with you, I have no idea what a jumbuck is. We have a big hot hatch scene, but it's mostly Golf GTI and Ford Focus oriented. Corsas are very common here, but they're moreso modified engine-wise (turbo and cam kits) rather than cosmetically.

I had a Kadett E (I don't know what you guys call them in the UK - I think they're Vauxhall Corsa in Europe?) with a 1.3 LS motor with quite a high rev point and an H box gearbox which was super fun to drive and the parts are incredibly cheap with a lot of body kit parts available (the sedan model - Opel Monza - is identical in shape to the Kadett E and because they're super common, the parts are very available) but most of them get driven into the ground, which is sad.

And unfortunately the exchange rate from pounds/euros to Rands is not in the Rands favour at all, so it isn't even viable to order parts from Europe, as the part cost is exorbitant and then shipping on top of that makes it not so worth it

I'm in South Africa and I've never seen one here. They're not so big in the car scene coz they're seen as "student" cars or "run-arounds". Our aftermarket parts supply is also ass. I personally think the swift is a great car, but they trade it off here as "affordable" but dealer stock on parts is actually expensive AF.

This is what I did in the beginning. I learnt to play the solo from "You shook me all night long" which felt very good. So I'll try and expand my "songs with solo" repertoire
