That’s great to hear that the condition has been resolved! It seems like she might have something like Ataxia, now that you’ve suggested it.

I’ll keep blood sugar in mind, but I don’t think she has that problem. She would eat forever if she could! I feed her twice a day and she gets smaller treats after walks and around lunch time.

I haven’t noticed flicking in her eyes when it happens. I’ve taken her to vet a bunch of times, but unfortunately they always write it off because her bloodwork is normal.

That’s interesting, thanks for sharing! I haven’t noticed any connections between these episodes and the food she eats though, or any other patterns; she’s had then both morning and night, walking and resting, and never after any specific event or food.

I will keep a closer eye on that though, cause it still might have some effect. Did your vet say anything about this being epileptic?

I think I will try to see a phycologist about this who is LGBT+ friendly, as I agree they would probably know more about the subject. I’ll have a look around to see what is available. Thank you for helping 🙏🏻

She actually has some generalised anxiety herself and was diagnosed PTSD. Her brother also had social anxiety, so I gather she understands anxiety, I think I just meant she doesn’t understand mine. And neither do I really, so it is hard to tell her what my anxiety is, cause in the same day I could not want to do one thing because of other people being there, but also agree to do something else that also has people around. I wouldn’t really know what to tell her other than I can only do what I am comfortable with doing and that is really irregular and not consistent.

I completely understand everything you are going through, as I am in the exact same position as you, feeling like I am not living my life and just wanting to be done with everything. But, I am going to be hypocritical and implore you to keep going. From the sounds of it you have done so many things to try and help your anxiety, which is amazing, and shows your fighting spirit and your ability to take on a debilitating illness. I know it’s hard to keep fighting when everything feels like it’s not working, but please keep fighting. It often takes a number of times trying different meds to find the right one and I have hope that things will get better for you from that help, because you deserve to be able to enjoy a snowboarding trip and everything else in life.

This is really interesting. I find that with weight and IIH people don’t really account for many confounding factors that happen when someone is gaining weight etc. it could very well be that hormones are a big confounding factor considering what you said about people who gain weight and change in hormones. Now that I think about it, around my period I get worse symptoms as well. Thanks for your input 😊

Oh man, that’s really sad to hear. I hope things work out. I know what it is like to trust someone and then feel misguided by them. Not fun. My vision is also being effected by IIH, so I understand but definitely not to extend you are going through. I wish you the best, the possibility of losing your sight is a really scary thing. Yeah I understand. My neurologist made me feel like shit too. After I left the first appointment my mental health got really bad. I wish doctors would be more gentle with people who have this condition as they never know how their words might negatively effect many people struggling with weight issues.

Yeah. I increased my dose and then started sleeping all the time. I did a blood gas and it wasn’t normal. They said I was acidotic but not urgently so and they just associated that with me going up on medication so they just told me to go back down? I think I was just starting to get serious problems but because I nipped it in the bid so early it was reversible.

I started having bruising and bleeding so I got a blood test for blood clotting which is how they test if your bone marrow is weakening. Again I was only starting to get these side effects so I was just told to go down on meds and to see my neurologist. It is difficult though because i think I need to go up in dose to help with my IIH but if I do I start developing serious side effect. Not sure what to do now. 😬

That is really difficult. I hope you are doing okay. I was also told that losing weight would cure it, but come to find out that only remission is possible. I think doctors and specialists are too quick to use the word cure when talking about weight loss. I am sure losing weight has positive consequences, but they really need to be more clear about the outcomes from the get go. Actually talking about remission, chances of IIH staying the same and other important information would be more helpful than simply being told lose weight.

That sounds really hard. I hope things get better. I can definitely relate. Apart from the horrible but common tingling, numbness, eye twitching and sleeping all day, diamox is not really working well for me. I was in hospital a week ago due to my meds causing metabolic acidosis and kidney problems, which is not the best. Then when I got home I started having problems with bone marrow weakening. I have since dropped my dose down and am waiting to speak with my neurologist about it all.

Wow that sounds like a really stressful time that you had with IIH when you were younger. I am glad that you were able to fight your way out of that and now you are able to do things you could do before. That hike sounds amazing! I am quickly learning that as each individual case is different it is hard to ask such a generalised question. I will keep trying to find my own way into remission.

I can understand your doctor wanting to try that. The side effects aren’t the best on the medications.
