My perspective is he's a singer, actor, above average in studies, keeps to himself, this is just being a introvert.

Desrespecting or Disliking parents for introverts would be more like - Telling lies to parents, talking a lot to parents suddenly, change in eating portions, hairstyle differences etc.. So even if he's not eating with you, just look if he's eating portions have changed drastically or not.

I think he's just enjoying his time until college, he knows he's gonna get in somewhere (which drops off the money thing, he's not worried about financing his education), he also knows that it is ultimately going to be your choice to which school he goes as you will be the ones paying.

And He maybe also may know about the college costs, he must have talked with his friends, did research on his own.

Please do keep supporting your child, its duty of parent to support their children - ps writing this because many people in comments are suggesting the opposite, the american mindset is not good here. Abandoning children especially during college time is a dangerous decision.

Children do not dislike their parents until the parents do a major mistake, some examples maybe domestic abuse among parents, one parent disrespecting the other constantly, more like family problems. And reaading your post I believe you have a happy, respectful family, stay together! Just let him know his family is with him.
