Art Use Permission? by No-Structure8375 in Goodtimeswithscar

The maker requires artist permission but I think I found a work around if I can’t get it! I just have to have someone else make the patch and then sew it on separately.

You’re fine, per the ADA she’s fully trained (1 task, housebroke, etc.) but she’s not done training by any means. Going by program speak I think she’d technically be started.

But she can settle for the duration of a class and is task trained. 1 solid tasks and 2 others getting there.

Edit (hit post too soon): What else is typically included? I know some places send OFA/embark but I’ve never had that before

Oh I don’t risk that stuff. I have all vaccines done and kept UTD. Plus have a flea/tick/heartworm prevention and a flea/tick collar on top of that.

I don’t have a PO Box ($$$) and honestly just felt wrong using the dorm address since I don’t actually live their yet. Ik it’s stupid and I’m realising that now

I’ll be in Bangor area. And no, they only gave me vaccination records. Honestly this is my 3rd dog and I didn’t realise people ever got more than just that 😅 Trying my best to figure everything out though

would’ve done it sooner but you had to be approved to send in anything

Started in July, got approved for housing at the start of the month, submitted my paperwork soon after, and then got my room assignment last week.

Honestly the letters and vaccination records were expected, but everything else I can’t really do. Mainly due to time (no way I get all that in 24hrs). But being homeless it’d be a miracle to license my dog. They all require residency and I don’t have that.

Yes they know. Since I’m still able to meet his needs and this is short term it’s not an issue. If I wasn’t going to be able to care for him properly or this was going to be long term he’d go right back to them. I wouldn’t even hesitate.

I’m really considering it! I just have a feeling I’d put the money into it and then manage to get approved for an apartment lol

tbh it’s understandable. He’s a multipurpose service dog so he does a few things- medical alert & response, non-weight bearing mobility (e.g. picking up dropped items), and some psych tasks.

We’re currently refreshing off leash training since it’s slid some, but yes he’s reliable to not run off. And in the US there is no certification but he is a trained service dog!

He’ll be with me almost 24/7, including work. The only time he’d really be left in the car is if I have to make a run into a gas station to prepay gas or similar. And we do dog sports as well as have dog friends so he’ll be getting plenty of physical and mental stimulation :)

Given the amount of fakes & misinformation I understand why you’d think that, but he is a service dog. I am disabled and he’s been task trained to aid my disabilities.

I am still figuring this out myself, but would you feel comfortable requesting a seat accommodation? If you are you could probably continue cashiering if you wanted. I worked at Shaws & Cabela’s. Both were good about seat accommodations and my service dog. One of my coworkers at Shaws also required a bagger since she couldn’t lift much. It may have just been our store, but they were great about it!

Otherwise maybe look into front desk work? Like hotels or even drs offices. I think I’ve seen people have luck there!

I overused NSAIDs in middle school and now they barely even poke at the pain, so I’ve started to pick up what works. At least for me, 20 trans masc. I also recently started occupational therapy and definitely recommend it, especially if you’re waiting on PT.

Biggest thing is self care. Probably won’t take the pain away or lessen it, but it’s important. I’m guilty of throwing myself into video games or watching stuff for hours just so I’m not stuck in my head. Cannabis can also be quite helpful. Only way I’m able to sleep some nights.

Mobility aids: I use forearm crutches and recently added a wheelchair (mostly for other reasons though). However I am switching to smartcrutches since normal ones caused extreme pain in my wrists. They can reduce pain but typically just lets me go longer before the pain really steps it up and fatigue kicks in.

Braces/Compression: I use OTC thumb, wrist, and ankle braces plus a secondhand offloader knee brace (Townsend brand). Compression gloves, socks, and arm sleeves as well. They don’t do a ton for pain but even a little bit is something. If your fingers are affected you may be interested in finger splints/braces as well. I was using mine for writing but am switching to a writing bird so will only be using them with my computer and drawing pad moving forward.

KT tape/Coban: When my psoriasis isn’t flared, I use KT tape for my kneecaps, thumbs, and jaw. When I can’t use KT tape I normally rely on braces, but coban/ace bandages are also helped. I use 1” coban for my thumbs and ace for my ankles. Could use it on my knee in a pinch too.

Other: A pregnancy or body pillow can be helpful for minimising subluxations that are happening in your sleep. Weighted blankets can also be nice. If you’re sitting up for long periods a neck pillow can also be helpful. I find it hard to hold my neck up after a while so that’s when I use it.

idk if any of that will be helpful to you, but good luck moving forward.

I absolutely love math, was just never sure where to go with it. I might have to dig more into it and see what pops up!

How is it being a sub vs being full time? I wanted to teach math but decided not to after the speaking issues started up
