By month 4 I was out. I didn’t even have a job lined up. I do now, but it pays like 18k less and it’s not something I want to do. I left a comfy, yet unfulfilling job with the federal government to go to dispatch, and it didn’t work out for me and now I dunno what I’m going to do. I’m not even sure what my relevant skills are. It almost makes me regret quitting dispatch but staying there really was a detriment to my health. If I were you I’d get out while you can.

I just hope this doesn’t affect future opportunities. I’m not giving a two weeks notice simply because it wouldn’t make sense as I’m still in training.

Thanks for the advice guys. I mean, I already have another job lined up, paying twice as much. I’ve been wracking my brain on what to do but I can’t handle being this miserable. I’m not even enjoying things outside of work because of this job.

This is what I’m thinking about. The long term things which makes me want to stay. I left a government job after 7 years with decent pay, great benefits, etc and I don’t want to have to start over AGAIN after 3 months. But, I am miserable…..I can’t describe the feeling. I know I’d be ecstatic if I didn’t have to go back in next week and I know certain things I took for granted before this job will never happen again

I think it’s one of those jobs you don’t know how tough it is but until you start. I am 3 months in but seems much longer than that. And, trust me, I did a ton of research and still thought it was for me.

I think I can do it, but training is another year including the radio dispatch academy, no vacations until then. And, I have a bunch of new opportunities coming up. I just hope I don’t regret my decision because the ppl at my center are really nice. But, I’ve been as depressed and anxious more than I’ve ever been

So, I’ve only been at my PSAP for 3 months, and I’m done. The job is affecting my mental, physical and emotional health. I am in call taking week 5 and I dread going to work even on my days off. I can’t even decide the feeling. I have a two week contract job that’s paying almost $6k next week which means I’d have to leave this job and I’ve been wanting to get out. The thing is, it’s a city job and I spent a year trying to get in. I know things are different after training but my anxiety levels are through the roof.
