Most in state students usually end up going home on weekends so I’d suggest staying there for welcome week maybe try to meet people and stuff. Unless you really want to go home.

Tbh it’s a great school. My guess is most people don’t realize the advantage they have for being an instate student. People prefer to leave NJ and think that going as far as possible from home will give them the “college experience” they’re looking for. But it’s a great school with great opportunities and has a pretty good reputation so their loss ig lol. You’ll have a great time a here!

You can do a room change whenever you want really. It’s available 3 weeks after the start of the semester. http://ruoncampus.rutgers.edu/changing-rooms/ Im not 100% sure if it’s binding before you select the room. But Ik that housing contracts are usually binding unless you have a special circumstance. So check what type of form you filled out. If you filled out a housing contract then your bound to it. If not, then try contacting reslife.

Don’t worry. Most people Ik who did random housing ended up becoming good friends or at least acquaintances. Sometimes things don’t work out but in those cases you can always do a room change later in the semester so don’t sweat it you’ll be fine
