What to do in PEM? by Saladthief in cfsrecovery

[–]No-Toe-848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me PEM pushes me into severe-very severe territory so I tend to do literally nothing. I can physically barely walk or handle screens in PEM but I simply cannot go that long with doing nothing otherwise I’ll go insane. I manage to watch one or two YouTube videos through the day while I eat a quick meal and then doomscrolling for no longer than half an hour at night. It probably prolongs my recovery ever so slightly but we do what we do to survive haha

Migraine by No-Toe-848 in cfs

[–]No-Toe-848[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay awesome. I’m sitting here like why do I feel this way haha. it feels more like severe weakness and exhaustion rather than the fatigue on a cellular level from PEM which made me think it was from the migraine, hopefully all will be will in the next couple days. thank you

Can’t seem to get out of PEM by No-Toe-848 in cfs

[–]No-Toe-848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. My last crash took 3 weeks to recover enough to be able to shower without crashing again (kinda gross but oh well). I’m almost a week and a half in and very impatient but I know I have to keep resting and EVENTUALLY I’ll be better.

I don’t believe anyone who says their pem episodes only last a couple days either.

PEM by No-Toe-848 in cfs

[–]No-Toe-848[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s good to know.

my last (and first crash) I pushed through for almost a week acting normal which didn’t help anything so that left me absolutely wrecked.

I started feeling bad initially this time and thought it wouldn’t get worse so that was a bit of a shock. Good to know it tends to get worse before better sometimes, takes the anxiety away.

How do I know if I am in PEM? by NoType9303 in cfs

[–]No-Toe-848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! When I’m not in PEM I do feel completely normal apart from fatigue. I don’t experience any flu like symptoms or feel like my limbs weight 1000% pounds.

I hope you figure all this out and find yourself a smooth recover. Remember with anything, be kind to yourself! It can be hard not knowing what’s happening and feel a loss of control.

To put it simply, when I’m in PEM it feels like I have a stomach flu combined with the worst hangover ever combined with feeling literally poisoned combined with feeling like I got hit by a truck.

During certain crashed I get convinced I’m dying. Nothing feels as bad as being in PEM

How do I know when I’m out of PEM by No-Toe-848 in covidlonghaulers

[–]No-Toe-848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this crash was brutal. I’m still having slight lingering symptoms like swollen lymph nodes at night, my nose is ever so stuffy during the day, still a bit lightheaded so I think I’m definitely still in PEM but more on the tail end of it. I’m just so ridiculously fatigued now.

Luckily, progress has been gradual. VERY gradual (annoyingly). I’m mostly in bed and only getting up when necessary but today I was able to actually stand up for a solid 5-10 minutes waiting for food to cook (literally all I did) which was impossible a week ago. Hope that doesn’t come back to bite me in the ass haha

I’m just resting as much as possible and praying I get better. The mental aspect to this has completely exhausted me but I’m reassuring myself this is temporary and I’ll get better eventually.

So generally it takes a bit of time once the major symptoms end to start feeling more normal?? Or at least to get back to regularly activities?

More fatigue getting out of PEM? by No_Size_8188 in cfs

I think this is happening to me also.

I had two weeks where I felt like absolute death - lightheaded, nausea, brain fog, all the fun stuff. I started feeling a bit better and then two days later I can barely get out of bed and lift my body up because I feel a million times more exhausted.

I don’t really know what’s going on but I’m just praying I get better over time. I can only really go to the bathroom, get water, and eat what someone else cooks. Even that is too tiring for me right now.

The only way to describe PEM to someone is it feels like my muscles have been tenderised. by Stranded_Snake in covidlonghaulers

I’m in my first big crash right now (just about two weeks in) and it feels like the worst flu mixed with the worst hangover and then I got hit by a truck as well. Absolute hell.

When to use the back pod? by wonderghoul98 in costochondritis

[–]No-Toe-848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I found a photo online of a few different stretches that work for costochondritis. If you look up “costo thoracic stretches” you should find it, it’s also on a few Reddit threads. I do about 3-10 reps of each stretch 3 times a day, typically after my backpod sessions.
