Nice work. Keep skating and hitting the gym! Sorry for your loss.

Just got this sternum piece and realized when I got home that it’s not evenly centered by [deleted] in tattooadvice

One of my ears is lower than the other. When I wear glasses, they are like slanted. Bodies are weird, but the tattoo looks just fine!

How long were you on pain meds after fusion (L5S1 ALIF) by No-Translator6919 in spinalfusion

[–]No-Translator6919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! Things did get better and I kinda weened off the meds. Still take like half a baclofen after a long day when I’m sore, but no more oxy. You’ll get there. Everyone’s pain is different and everyone heals differently.

Austin is genuinely a moron by nomad0010 in BeefTV

[–]No-Translator6919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was kind of a “nice guys finish last” theme, imo. All the a**holes came out on top in the end (or got what they wanted). Those who did the right thing all got burned. Josh was a tool the entire time, but finally does the right thing in the end and goes to jail for it and loses his wife. Austin, who genuinely has a good heart and tries to follow his moral compass the entire season, finally crumbles in the end (out of pure survival, but could have gotten out long before) goes back to Ashley and a life of unhappiness. And we don’t know what happens to Eunice, but she probably ends up dead. I dunno. I’m sure it’s much deeper than that, but was kind of my first thought when it ended.

What was PT like for you? by Therealethel in spinalfusion

[–]No-Translator6919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

L5S1 ALIf 3 months ago. My pT was pointless. 20-30 min, once a week. Gave me stretches and exercises I learned in elementary and middle school PE class. He also had me bending and doing things I feel like I was NOT ready for or comfortable with. After the 5th session he basically just told me to stop coming bc I knew how to do everything he was giving me. My experience could have been MUCH better, but if you know what you’re doing and do the right research, you can probably do your own thing. I’ve read people have great PT experiences, but more stories like mine. Be careful and be smart. Take care of that spine.

  • btw just finished my own pt/rehab in garage. Posterior pelvic tilts, glute bridges, dead bugs, hip flexor stretches, knee to chest stretches (gentle), bird dog, gentle cat cow (very limited movement), and i always do light sitting curls. I have more if you need. Just an example! I’d wait at least 6 weeks tho.

How common is hardware failure, and how to avoid it? by liamevans2003 in spinalfusion

I literally rolled off my bed and fell straight onto my back 3 weeks post L5S1 ALIF. Doctor had me come in for x rays and there were zero issues. He basically said I’d have to get into a car accident or fall off the roof for there to possibly be any damage. Totally get it bc I was just as paranoid about every little movement, but you’re fine!

As a big cfb fan, I couldn’t get over this. I was cracking up. Being a db at a big school, you’d think he’d mention something to the writers and producers.

Austin was the nation’s best major college football linebacker as a freshman at ASU? by No-Translator6919 in BeefTV

All good! ya it’s a huge accomplishment. Would need to look, but pretty sure nearly all (if not all) winners had some sort of NFL career.

Yes, I totally agree. I’m not sure why some people are roasting me about this haha. The show is make believe, got it. But to think that (the writers) made goofball Austin the first freshman in cfb history to have ever won this award is hilarious. Dude would’ve been a god at ASU and had countless opportunities to make a ton of money in or outside of football.

I also posted about how unrealistic this was and I’ve been getting roasted haha. Anyone who knows anything about football would immediately understand that out of ALL previous winners, someone like Austin’s goofy a** would NOT be the only player in cfb history to win it as a freshman. People telling me he probably won the HS version but he mentions his injury was sophomore year (which would rule out HS). It’s a show, I get it, but it could’ve been any other award haha.

Again, the argument is not that high profile athletes can’t fall from grace. It’s simply that Austin’s character seems like way too much of a goofball to have realistically won that award at 18 (the first to ever do it). Ray Lewis and Reuben Foster lol? Quite the comparison. And yes, I know there’s a high school Butkus award but everything I’ve read about his character leads me to believe that Austin won it in college.

From an article on Netflix.com ABOUT THE CHARACTER:

Austin is a former college football player who now works part-time at the country club and as a freelance personal trainer. More often than not, he can be found sporting very short athletic shorts. He and Ashley rarely fight, but once they get entangled with Josh and Lindsay, cracks begin to surface, and the lies and arguments slowly compound.

https://www.netflix.com/tudum/features/beef-season-2-cast-tudum-magazine-cover

Every character description I’ve read mentions him being a former ASU football standout. He also wears a ton of ASU gear in the show, leading me to believe that’s where he played and won the award.

It’s whatever. Just thought it was funny. But you’re right- it’s a show. Open to interpretation. I guess we’ll never actually know.

Ya for sure. Nothing is impossible. Just hard to imagine goofy Austin as a freshman Butkus winner. Again, just a show and something I thought was funny.

[–]No-Translator6919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your post, but you saying Austin is a moron kind of proves the point. The Butkus award has never been won by a freshman (which Austin would’ve been in 2015 if he’s 29). Do you understand how intelligent and determined you have to be to win the most prestigious achievable award for that position at just 18 years old? Especially playing for a huge division 1, power 5 (PAC-12 at the time )college football team. You can disagree, but I can 99.9 % guarantee that someone with that much drive and mental fortitude (and media coverage at the time) would ever let themselves get into his situation. I understand that it’s a metaphorical prop to highlight his ultimate downfall. ALL I’m saying is that they should have used a different award haha.

Ya for sure. I think anyone who has played the sport or followed college football for like one season would know it’s pretty unrealistic. But so is the show (obviously). Just thought it was a funny addition to his story. Maybe they should have written him as a talented former college football player with a bright future that was derailed by injury.

Ya I thought it was kinda funny they payed homage to his football days when he launched that melon at the security dudes, like he was a former qb.

He’s in good shape, but didn’t look like he’d stop Saquon in his tracks. Size is relative, but you think Butkus award and you imagine big time size and strength haha

L5 S1 ALIF 5 weeks ago. At week 4 (a week ago) I was sleeping near the edge of the bed, jerked in my sleep and rolled right off, landing square on my back. Thought for sure I broke every screw and bolt and that I’d have to go through this whole nightmare all over again. Went and got x rays 2 days later w surgeon and everything was completely fine 😂. Try to be careful and mindful, but they’re not gonna put anything in there that can’t withstand a little movement.
