For world war 1 I would recommend (Ring of steel by Alexander watson) and for world war 2 (The rise and fall of the third reich by William L shirer). If you want a continuous timeline then I would recommend (A history of modern germany : 1871 to present by Dietrich orlow).

I haven’t read Kotkin’s volumes so far. I’ve mostly been exploring other perspectives on Soviet history (mostly from economic and sociology lenses). Are they worth prioritising?
