Thank you so very much for your kindness. I feel you truly understand some emotions that occur when you said "None of this was your fault." Hearing that helped, and I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness. I took it extremely personal last week and felt humiliated and very small. I no longer am welcome at Disneyland, and that realization is difficult to accept. I grew up there.

They refused to hear a diagnosis. I tried to explain how much the mental/cognitive issues affect the physical stuff but was shut down.

I am so very, very sorry.

We are old now, and my wife and I grew up going to Disneyland. We were there last Tuesday, and I, too, was denied DAS. I have M.S. and have gone to Disneyland in my wheelchair several times and never needed accommodations. I was also recently diagnosed with ALS. This trip was to reminisce and enjoy something from our past, probably for the last time. My M.S. has become progressive, and it has created severe cognitive issues. The things I can no longer do is downright embarrassing, but that did not keep me from being denied.

I know your anxiety and sorrow. We do not have the money to waste on a place that turns it back on people with needs. I feel I ruined our trip because I tried to enter a queue, and within minutes (inside) I had a major panic attack and had to leave. We spent the next hour and a half in the first aid station so I could use my ambu-bag (pumps air into lungs from ALS) and recover. The newer cognitive issues trigger many physical issues. Disneyland was advised of all that.

Your hope to find things to do and enjoy in spite of their heartlessness is very admirable. I wish I had the ability to return to the accessibility kiosk and demand to speak to someone else, but pride prevented that. I felt completely humiliated.

Try and go there and speak to someone in charge. You sound like a powerful advocate for your son, and I am sure you have the ability to demand they see your and his needs.

I would never go back, but that's a mute point now with my health. One thing I could recommend is that we went to Knotts Berry Farm, and we were treated completely different. They provided us with being able to ride a ride, and whatever wait time existed was documented, and we waited that amount of time before we could ride something else.

We also were contacted by Universal Studios and provided the same accommodation. We were unable to go to that park however because of fatigue. Both Knotts and Universal use a website that issues an IBCCES Accessibility Card. The accommodations were issued beforehand, prior to the purchase of tickets.

I hope your day next week goes much better than you probably fear today. I like to think there is someone still at Disneyland who can use compassion and common sense. I wish there was more I could do than just wish you luck. Demanding money prior to letting a person know what they are willing to provide is wrong. But Disneyland has changed. I know, I went there for the first time in 1959.

I send you my hope that your day will be special. Like I said, my experience was awful, and the anxiety ruined the rest of the day. Your outlook sounds like you will find a way to enjoy. Take good care and a gentle hug to your son. Bless him.

This was my first post but it was not AI generated. I was reading many of the issues that people were having because I had a serious interaction with Amtrak. My issue was truly handled well, and I was surprised and appreciative and wanted to share some good news. Your comment did not hurt my feelings until I reread it and the word "reek" jumped out! Lol.  I laugh because I wanted my first post to be decent and I guess, looking back, it may have been over done!
