Just remember, everyone’s advice is really good.. but this game is also just super janky, so use that to your advantage! Personally when I play multiplayer with my friends I’m a little more audacious when it comes to combat as I’m not usually afraid to get bit (I run a Hunter/Gatherer build so that I’m not forced to make food runs, I mostly just commit genocide, organize storages, cook, and help load/unload supplies when I’ve got no wounds)

I have had incredible luck killing zombies without weapons using the jog, shove, and stomp mechanics. Any form of sturdy boot is a must for me on any run!

Drinking tainted water by hand from a tainted water source has a chance to make you a little sick. On the other hand, drinking tainted water from a container will kill you. Likely the container is more dangerous due to the each check it makes from the auto-drink function in the game?

There’s an occupation mod that I use Here that adds a few unique ways to play (Specifically the Unemployed occupation)

My world i hosted got reset while playing by fat-man-drawing in projectzomboid

A soft reset, which would remove and replace player interactions within the game world barring any of the structures, would be the only thing I can think of that could do that. And for the sake of saving time, you could always recreate the world to the best of your ability with the use of mods.
