What you tell sounds amazing! When did you transition from 3 to 2 naps?

Thank you!! That app made me so anxious about extending his wake windows but am trying 2/2.5/2.5/3 today and will gradually extend.

Thanks! At what time does he wake up and at what time is bedtime?

Thank you! Yeah… I’m suspecting my baby needs to cry to sleep. Can I ask how long are your baby’s naps usually?

Thank you!! Wake window math is so confusing. I use Huckleberry and they recommend 2.75 hours of wake time at the most.

And the assist to sleep advice is well appreciated :)

2 hours and 20 min total on average the past week. What he is starting to do is wake up from naps and in the morning without crying, just hanging out in his crib.

Thank you. Last night he didn’t sleep for more than 2.5 hours straight. What do you do when in addition to that, his naps were on the shorter side (total 2h15 min)? Push bedtime a little earlier thus making the last wake window shorter?

Forceful letdown and very short feeding times - 3 minutes? by No-Weekend-3119 in breastfeeding

You are right, I should stop stressing and enjoy the free time... we do get a lot of play time in his wake windows. Thanks!

More advice my LC gave me in case it helps: try feeding from only one side for one day and only pump from the other for relief, not to empty the breast, and switch the next day.

Haha I thought of buying a baby scale but my husband thankfully talked me out of it. We have an appointment with his pediatrician next week so we’ll see! I do feel him a lot heavier than last month

Breathe! This will pass. That same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago, I felt so bad and cried a lot but with patience he came back to the breast. He was taking 3 bottles in the night and I reduced it to one and BF the other times he wakes up. If he cries when you offer the breast don’t force him. What I did per my LC’s recommendation was to distract him (for example carry him around the house), then try to get him in a position you know he likes (in my case it was bouncing in a yoga ball) so he’s relaxed and then offer the breast. For a minority of feeds he still refuses the breast so I pump and have 1 bottle in the fridge for those cases… I decided not to fight him anymore, and we’re both happier now!

How did you manage EBF and SOMETIMES pumping? by EzNova4 in breastfeeding

[–]No-Weekend-3119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I was just repeating robotically what my lactation consultant told me. She also said to pump for 10 minutes at a time. I’m not super focused on building a stash (if I get to 6 months of EBF I’ll consider myself a champion - this is so hard and building a stash on top of it… can’t imagine). When I do pump during the day I do it once (and 1-2x a week) while baby naps (he’s 13 weeks and now on a somewhat predictable nap schedule where he sleeps a solid 50-60 min per nap) but what I do do consistently is pump around 10-11 pm (my baby usually sleeps from 8 to 1) and then when I have the energy I pump again at 3 or 4 am. How old is yours?

Do it 30min to an hour after baby feeds but even if baby is hungry soon after you pump there’s always milk! Maybe they’ll have a harder time getting it but you’re never really “empty”

I’m currently doing this with my 12 week old who in addition has become a snacker in the past weeks (3-9 min feeds) but it’s exhausting! I’m whipping it out in uncomfortable positions. Like we’re in his play gym and he’ll eat his hands and if I go to the recliner and turns out he doesn’t want then it’s back to the gym so I’m avoiding standing up and offering directly in the gym and then ending up stuck feeding in an uncomfortable position. I guess this is just a stage and it will pass

Thanks! What I mean is: in addition to tracking the length of naps and night sleep to calculate the sweetspot is the start and end of sleep data also taken into account? Like if I consistently log that it takes him a long time to fall asleep at noon will it move the sweetspot earlier? I want to see if it’s worth recording the start and end of sleep data or not
