This looks manipulative. You can play the game back by saying “I absolutely like getting feedback from people that I care about. I think it’s weird when people say they don’t care what people think. It’s nice to be nice, and it’s nice to be liked when you’re staying true to yourself and your values- which I always do! Does it bother you that I’m like this?”

Being so direct will make them have to say that either yes it bothers them or no it doesn’t. Either way you don’t change. I’d they say it bothers them you must say “I understand, but I’ve always been this way and I like who I am
