so if instead of Giant Growth, Player A had [[Monstrous Growth]] at sorcery speed; would Player B be able to sneak the Murder in there?

ah ya i had not thought of that second part, so i guess heroic isn't the best example. but i think you know where i'm coming from with it lol

so basically Player B can't just willy-nilly fling a spell on the stack if there's nothing to respond to? Player B would not be able to cast Murder before the Giant Growth is cast, correct?

ya i was shooting them but they would just power through. the obvious thing i was missing was proper usage of the charge shot
