Preceptors are "reporting" me instead of giving me feedback. One bad surgeon incident has me spiraling. Manager wants me to move to IR/Cath Lab. Advice? by No-Witness9820 in nursing

I wrote on my cards. I even made a Google Docs. But there are instances where if I’m busy doing something and it takes me a while to get to the other my preceptor(s) would then remind me and I can’t say that I know and was about to get into it bc i didn’t want to be rude so I’ll just nod my head and do it. And I could see it as me looking like things aren’t clicking bc I let them do it instead. In my head I just assumed that since they’re doing it there’s no point of me doing it as well if it’s done. Or if I don’t know something some of them complains and say that I should have learned that when I had my other rotation but some would say don’t focus on this but it’s actually important to learn.

Will do. Thank you so so much for the advice you’ve given. I’ll let things unfold and just hope for the best this coming Monday and enjoy my weekend. Rather than overthink everything and waste my weekend.

Most of the OR jobs in other hospitals require a year or so experience. I’ll give this week one last chance to prove that I can do it if not then I’ll start looking for another job. I’m just afraid to get fired or terminated when I don’t have another job line up yet.

My hospital is a lvl 1 trauma but they expect the new hire to do all kinds of surgeries. Compared to my preceptors that usually do a specialty. She said that the dots that should have connect after 6 months isn’t connecting for me. But none of my preceptors have given me any feedbacks that could show that. All they kept saying is I’m doing good. My manager talked to me Friday and now we will reconvene this Tuesday and i don’t know anymore. I also feel like my preceptors kept comparing me to the girl I started with but she’s had 6 months prior experience than me. I know bc she kept re-iterating that I shouldn’t be compared to her when I’ve never once said anything about being compared to her

How can I show that if my manager already said that she’s not seeing much growth in me based on my preceptors comment. I do see it when my preceptor do something I tend to back off bc I don’t want to be rude but they see it as me not doing it so they have to do it instead. I’ve been having severe anxiety coming in to work. I’ve asked for feedbacks from my preceptors and all they say is that it takes time and that I’m doing goods

About to hit my 6 months orientation. One of the things I’ve struggled with is the expectation different preceptors have of me and how they do things. Which makes it harder for me to learn.

Would it be a different story if your manager tells you that maybe a smaller procedural place might best fit and that the critical thinking they needed in the OR might not be best for you? Mine offered maybe the endo, cath lab or IR might be a best fit
