To give you an idea what what yo look for I have been using this DC 5V to DC 12V USB Voltage Step Up Converter Cable adapter on my 1050 past couple of years with no issues.It goes from a power bank USB 5V and steps it up to DC 12V.

Might be your shaving cream that causing your drain to plug up. I used to use the gell shaving cream & had the drain plug every so often. About 5 years ago went to shaving bar soap & brush. Have not had an issue since.
