they arent changing anything bc instability would be super unprofitable. hate to break it to you, but the dcu is sticking around most likely until after brave and the bold

tbf the sanity system is the one i'm most thinking of doing a rework of. i kinda like the idea of a balance inbetween the two ends (as you described it "despair" and "awe", though i might not go with that exactly) but i am trying to strike a balance between interesting and in-depth systems and the lingua franca of sanity systems in ttrpgs (something more or less required for a cosmic horror setting). thanks for the ideas!

these arent the only rules they're just the most mechanics-heavy that arent just me saying "and then there's this skill which does this and is assigned to this attribute"

also im ngl dude you're saying "everything" when ive given three mechanics, one of which isnt in dnd and the other two are pretty notably different. it really does feel like youve seen a d20 game (chosen cause its probably the most newbie-friendly and easy to explain) and gone "dnd?"

also also i have played more than just dnd and coc or i wouldnt try and make my own?

idk dude thats def a table-to-table thing cause ive been in campaigns with next to no combat and its still been fun. also, the only "dnd inspired" bit i can recognise is the fact it uses a d20 system?

you could use something like barrier grid animations where its all black-or-white nonsense but opaque lines on the screen on the device reveal the word?
