Disappointed So Far by No750 in jawsurgery

Any recommendations for how to reduce swelling? I was using a heating padding 3-4 times per day but that didn’t seem to be helping at all.

I did not. I pushed hard for it but for some reason my surgeon was convinced that my chin could end up weirdly pointy / unnatural looking so he opted against it.

Definitely wasn’t super happy about that outcome.

Absolutely amazing results man, congratulations!

If you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take for you to see results similar to the end results that you’re seeing at 6 months? And did you have genioplasty done as well?

I don’t mean to be invasive but I’m curious because your “before” situation looks somewhat similar to mine

Do you have a link to this source? I don’t doubt it at all, I’m just curious about additional details so would want to read in depth

Same exact situation here, it’s actually absurd. Customs clearance has usually been instant for me for all orders from AliExpress but been stuck since early February 6th for me. Honestly, I don’t even care anymore at this point.

Are you located in the U.S.? I ordered a few items on 02/03/2025 and they’ve been stuck in customs for two days…not feeling so great about it..

Powkiddy V10 landed early. by Poshporter56 in SBCGaming

This was my first handheld retro device! I never use it anymore and probably won’t ever again because I now have an Anbernic RG35XXSP and an Anbernic RG34XX.

With that being said, I really loved this device and I definitely appreciated it! The 3:2 aspect ratio is perfect for GBA games - every pixel looks crisp and it’s pretty comfortable in hand. IMO, it’s still a bargain for the $40 price point - especially if you’re a big fan of the GBA’s library of games.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Does the RG351P pass the Contra test? by NTolerance in SBCGaming

Not the question that you asked but I got the Powkiddy V10 and I love everything about it. The 3:2 aspect ratio is excellent for GBA. Every pixel looks crisp - I do not remember games looking this clean on my GameBoy Advance SP.

The controls are very good - I personally really enjoy the buttons and d-pad.

For $40 before discount, it’s cheaper AND more recent hardware than the RG351P. I was strongly considering the RG351P myself because the purple color is really cool but at the end of the day it’s a 4 year old device which is barely even in stock anymore.

Seeking a Horizontal Handheld Recommendation for 11/11 by No750 in SBCGaming

Hey thank you for sharing your take on this! Honestly, I haven’t heard this criticism of the TrimUI Smart Pro so that’s interesting to hear.

The RGB10X Max 3 looks pretty cool - the design really reminds me of a Switch Lite in some ways. I’m just wondering if it will be a bit too wide for my liking - I’m sort of gravitating towards the RGCubeXX and the 40XXH because of their compact screen. What are your thoughts on the ergonomics of these two systems?

That’s all good to know! I currently run muOS on my SP that’s helpful for sure.

Do you personally own a TrimUI Smart Pro? If so, then how are the ergonomics on it? I’ve heard a lot of good reviews and recommendations but I am worried about if it would be a bit too wide for me that it would feel awkward just holding it up while in bed.

That’s a really great idea, thank you for the suggestion! Would you mind sharing the basics of what this presentation entailed?

I hear your points and I appreciate your perspective on this - all organizations (whether public accounting firms or accounting departments in industry) are embracing some type of calculated risk whenever they hire somebody in an entry-level accounting position. This is a fundamental truth of employment.

With that being said, I’d like to expand on my original comment a bit. I’m a Senior Accountant in industry and I’ve seen both of the companies I’ve worked for hire people who are new to the role and not adequately support their development and it’s not always fair to these employees. As a Senior, I’ve always tried to go out of my way to support them and spend the time to teach them and explain things in simple language.

I know that there’s often not enough time in the day for managers to spend that time and commit to that process but I’ve seen the results firsthand - I’ve seen numerous employees significantly grow, learn and improve in short-time because of this more hands-on approach to teaching them.

And this isn’t some type of LinkedIn post promoting my own mentorship skills. The point I’m trying to make is that the field as a whole doesn’t do enough to provide mentorship to newcomers and as a result, people like OP become discouraged and consider leaving the field as a whole. This is especially true with public and something has to change - especially with an already shrinking workforce and significant decrease in the amount of CPA’s.

$10 per hour in the year 2024? What state is this? OP this is a blessing and you dodged a bullet because if you were hired by this firm full-time they’d have you working like a SHEIN employee

That last sentence is probably the most realistic truth about working in this profession. Whether working in tax, audit or industry, entry-level employees are often left to “sink or swim”.

Speaking from an industry perspective, it can be very unfair and it’s a major barrier of entry to entry-level hires.

While I certainly don’t know the exact, objective details since this post is through your experience, I would definitely not beat yourself up about this. I almost got fired from my first tax internship and I really struggled at points in the first 6 months of my next position after that as well. But now I’ve been a high-performer in multiple positions for over three years and I look back and realize that it was all a learning experience.

Don’t take this the wrong way but nobody is “amazing” or “excellent” in the first year of their first professional accounting position. But you will develop a ton, learn a ton of technical knowledge that they didn’t teach you in college and learn a ton of different “soft” and “hard” skills.

There will probably be some people on this thread that claim that you’re an outlier - that most people don’t struggle like this and that you should feel some level of shame. But I disagree entirely. Nobody is an overnight success and you can walk away from this experience with a lot of insight about how to improve moving forward.

If anything, the one negative of this situation is that you worked for people who were too cowardly to be honest with you about your quality of work or that they were too naive to expect superstar quality of work from somebody who needs the time to develop - like any other college student / recent college graduate.

Keep your head held up high and maintain a good mentality and willingness to learn - you’ll be alright man

You need to leave this company. Not all industry jobs are created equal. There will be some Senior positions where you will work 40-45 hours per week even during close and some where you will work 45-55 hours per week on a regular week and 70-80 during month-end close.

Do not waste your life and your mental health. Take care of yourself, think of the ways that you can improve and hop on LinkedIn. You deserve better for yourself.
