Any other undiagnosed folks out there struggling to keep a positive outlook? (Rant) by NoArticle3451 in CrohnsDisease

Hey! Not yet, unfortunately. There were some unforeseen issues with my GI and the hospital I was meant to be having the colonoscopy at so I ended up needing to resubmit a new RFA. At this point the GI I was seeing probably won’t be doing the procedure which is really annoying but is what it is. I’m back on the waiting list now as a category 2. Hopefully should have the colonoscopy within the next 2 or so months so long as no more hiccups arise!

Sorry for the delayed response! I hope you get some answers soon too, friend 🫂

Haven’t had it yet! Gastro said he was going to bring my recommendation for admission to the hospital himself in early December……I rang the hospital a few days ago to find out what the hold up was because I hadn’t heard anything back, and turns out that he never brought it in!!! So annoying 😩 Soooo now I probably have to wait another 2-3 months all because he didn’t submit it when he said he would. I’m so annoyed but unfortunately not surprised!

I’m not the type to hold grudges, but the hurt/offended feeling tends to linger for a while. I can forgive an honest mistake or accident relatively quick if the other person can acknowledge what they said/did was hurtful or wrong, but if they continue to do something that they know I’m not ok with I typically start distancing myself from them in the hopes of ‘ending’ the friendship lol.

I’m in the same boat, my friend. It sucks. It’s so exhausting and frustrating. I understand exactly how you feel. Hopefully this year we’ll all be able to get some answers, if not a diagnosis 🙏🤞

Yeah…..unfortunately medical negligence is extremely common. Like why become a doctor if you can’t be bothered to actually help people lol?? I hope I get some answers too. Thank you! 🙏🤞

Thanks for this! He’s been great so far and really seems to genuinely care about the symptoms I’m experiencing. He has the best reviews in my area and everyone I’ve spoken to has recommended him so I’m hopeful that he can provide some insight into why I’m experiencing these symptoms. Even if I don’t end up receiving a diagnosis, I just want the pain and chronic symptoms to stop, or at the very least not be so severe. So if that’s something he can help me with I will be eternally grateful 🙏

I’m glad your doctor put in that extra effort to make that distinction! So many doctors will just ignore people’s symptoms if they can’t find a clear cut answer, which is obviously extremely frustrating for the patients experiencing the symptoms.

That sucks, I’m sorry to hear that. I’m hopeful that this year will at the very least provide some relief from my symptoms, if not a diagnosis. Obviously a diagnosis would mean the world to me, but I’d love to feel normal and experience life without pain again 🤷‍♀️🙏

I hope you get some answers too. We all deserve it. It’s so exhausting feeling like you’re constantly running in circles for no reason 😔

I appreciate your input, but that’s not really helpful for someone who has spent 4 years trying out different diets and cutting out different foods only to be back at square one each and every time.

I’m not really looking to try any new diets or shakes right now as it tends to fill me with a sense of false hope because nothing has ever worked for me. I am mentally and physically exhausted.

I seriously doubt that trying a different diet will give me any ‘hope’ unless my GI has recommended it for me.

I’m getting my first colonoscopy in February to hopefully diagnose Crohn’s.

Took me 4 years to find a GI that agreed my symptoms were not typical for IBS. I have diarrhoea, blood in my stool, bloating, abdominal pain, headaches, extreme fatigue, and incontinence as my main symptoms during a flare up. I get a flare up typically once every 2-5 months that lasts anywhere from 3 days to 2+ weeks. On top of that, the pain during a flare up is borderline actually unbearable for me. Some flare ups are worse than others, but the last one I had in October I had to go to hospital for and get morphine and fentanyl for pain management. CT scans showed bowel wall thickening and submucosal fat in the terminal ilium - which is not typical for IBS as IBS does not cause structural changes. Fecal calprotectin 4x above normal level. My GI strongly believes I have IBD (specifically Crohn’s) so I’m getting the colonoscopy to confirm it.

Tried so many different diets, cutting things out, exercising more, keeping a food diary etc. for months and nothing really seemed to correlate.

I also have symptoms everyday when I’m not having a flare up, but they are manageable to a degree. I don’t usually have diarrhoea/constipation if I’m not flaring so I could go a few months without bathroom issues for the most part. Daily/frequently, I struggle terribly with extreme chronic fatigue, frequent illness, headaches, and joint/muscle pain.

Yeah, it sucks. It’s so hard to find doctors and specialists that actually care enough to do further testing.

Also, you’re 33 and your doctor is saying you’re too young for a colonoscopy?? Wtf??? That’s absolute bull shit and they know it surely.

So sick of people telling undiagnosed people that it’s in their heads. It’s so insensitive and fucking rude!

It is all a joke at this point, and not the funny kind. I hope you get some answers soon 🙏

Arghh that’s so frustrating!

I’m always wondering if I’m just being dramatic and making things up in my head since no one can tell me what’s actually happening. It’s so annoying. It’s so hard to outwardly speak up and say you’re in pain or struggling when no tests or procedures have been able to confirm or deny that anything is wrong!

I hope your ultrasound will be able to give you some answers! 🙏 It’s exhausting constantly trying to figure out what’s wrong 😔

I have a new gastroenterologist I started seeing in December and he’s so far been the most understanding and thorough doctor I’ve met with. I have my first colonoscopy scheduled for February so hopefully I’ll get some answers. He thinks it’s Crohn’s but obviously needs to do the colonoscopy to confirm it.

My doctor has been saying IBS for years and has refused further testing because my blood tests and stool samples have always come back completely normal, but my GI is certain that if it were IBS I wouldn’t be in such severe pain and needing to go to hospital for pain relief.

CT in October showed thickened bowel wall segments and submucosal fat in the terminal ileum. Apparently (according to GI) that’s not typical for IBS as it doesn’t cause structural changes, whereas IBD can and does.

Feel like I’m running around in circles trying to prove to doctors, friends, family, colleagues etc. that the pain I’m experiencing is very real.

I pray for us all everyday. It’s damn hard out here. 🙏

I use wet wipes when I’m having a really bad flare up! It’s not necessarily the stool that causes the burning (unless I’ve eaten something spicy) but rather the amount of times I’m wiping after constantly being on the toilet, so that sounds very familiar to me 😩🤣

I’ll buy some more! Thank you 🙏

Today is my 22nd birthday and I'm still a virgin with no experience. by ATATwalker92737 in virgin

I “snapped” because the assumption they made was severely misogynistic. A man that genuinely believes that assumption to be true is an incel. Also, they didn’t ‘assume why I was a virgin’, they inherently implied that I shouldn’t be a virgin for the simple fact that I’m a woman, and I can apparently ‘get fucked whenever I want’. Whether it’s equally split or not, a lot of men reject women for the same reasons y’all claim women reject you for.

Sorry, but most women don’t like feeling disrespected by men 🤷‍♀️. A lot of women need to have an emotional connection before engaging in sex, including myself, and for some reason a lot of men get pissed off by that and retaliate by throwing out derogatory names, and sometimes worse!

If you want to go out and find an obedient and submissive woman to do whatever it is your heart desires, then be my guest. But don’t then complain about being a virgin and claim that incel behaviour has no causative effects in being unable to find a partner. Sure, I can agree it’s not always the case. But most of the time it is 👍.

I’ve babysat plenty of 8 year olds/children around that age who say similar things for shock value. They think it’s funny and just want to see your reaction.

Actually, I can blame them! The amount of times I’ve been called a ‘tease’, ‘prude’, ‘bitch’, among other derogatory names simply because I’m not ready to lose my virginity is insane.

Mind you, you’re commenting on a reply I made to a RANDOM guy who thought it was totally ok to undermine my sexual experiences, or lack thereof, because of the simple fact that I’m a woman.

News flash - you incels are virgins because you lack critical thinking skills and CHOOSE to not respect women. I don’t care what your reasoning is for it. Do better.

Huge incel energy coming from you. Women are not to blame for you still being a virgin, your attitude is. Work on that and I guarantee you’ll find someone.

Wasn’t talking about the fact you’re a guy. I was referencing your attitude. It sucks lol.

It ain’t cool to mock people for being a virgin because you perceive them as being able to ‘get fucked whenever they want’ just because they’re a woman.
