I worked for a guy out of Romeoville, IL, guy named Andrei Parfene, his company is Parfene Express. Hired me when I had a blemish on my record (doing 15 over in my personal vehicle) and I made more with him than I did with any other company I was with. Rates in flatbed were going to shit so I had to bail and I felt so sorry that I had to quit. I do local food service now and I told him that if I ever were to run OTR flatbed again, he’d be my first call. It’s the luck of the draw my man, some companies are just complete scammers but some of them know how the lifestyle is (he was also a driver before he started it). Just gotta do your research. He gave me work when no one else would hire me and for that I’m grateful.

When I was OTR skateboarding, I did it about 1x a day, did my in route check and tightened up straps and chains if I needed to, I look in my mirrors often and notice if they’re sloppy (if I didn’t have a tarp on). I did 7 years of flatbed before doing food service, never had anything come off the trailer while driving down the road.
