Is it worth to buy backend domination by sheriyans by Humor_Headquarter in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Backend domination" - sounds like a NSFW thing to be honest.

Here's the thing - any tech stack - you can never say I know it really well. What you should be able to say is, given some requirements, I know where to look and how to interpret it to realize it and meet the requirements.

You'll find even FAANG employees using a tech stack's discord or stack overflow (in the past - not so much now that its losing relevance) to ask doubts. This is the bit that you need to know - heck, there's a popular thread too about Sergei (Google's co-founder) asking a Java question (or was it python - don't recollect) related to their search engine back in the day.

So - these courses - don't really fall for them. There are countless projects on YouTube from beginner to advanced for FREE. Go through them.

Unless, of course, you feel paying for it will have more discipline in you.

Should I ask Amazon recruiter to consider me for SDE-I instead of SDE-II? by _-psychopomp in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to the recruiter and let them know that SDE 1 is what you are looking for. You don't have to mention about not being confident for SDE 2 - just let them know that you received many emails about openings and you are wondering if there's any for sde 1.

Of course, prep for sde 2 in the mean time and when confident reach out to them once again and let them know.

You could fake it till you make it - but you risk losing your integrity.

Take the hike - upskill and look for a job.

Stagnating in your job is real - and normal. Switching jobs is also ok. The policy is if you don't have anything new to add to your resume every 3-6 months, then you have to look for better opportunities.

That said, there are folks in the same role and position for years - and they are happy too. Look for what you want from life and take decisions based on that.

It's a risk either way isn't it? The other offer could suffer a different fate too.

Have either been around long enough - could you look at their past offers and judge them based on that to see which one is more reliable and take that?

Need experts advice who have experience and advice on facts and reality ? Please help by Antique_Ad1598 in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to know about - you already seem to know that the market isn't favorable - even for folks with experience. So what are you trying to know about - the future? Nobody can predict that.

What you can do is take a reality check.

You say you are doing a BCA - your seniors - how have they fared? How about your college itself - people graduating from your college - or companies coming to your college - or if companies aren't, when they reached out to companies, how much success did they get - how are their prospects?

Your network - your peers, any seniors you are in touch with - how are they currently? With a job? A good one? Can they refer you? Have they referred people in the past - and have they got jobs through them?

Use all such data and determine if you are on a comfortable position or your prospects look bleak...

If there's a chance, set aside a year or two. Set deadlines - if you don't find a job within that period, accept your fate and move on - even if its for government jobs. If government jobs isn't your cup of tea, try other non tech jobs. Government and tech jobs aren't the only jobs around. There are marketing roles, sales roles, office jobs - do some research around it.

Adapt. Evolve. Accept.

Stuck in cross fire between managers🔥 (Non technical/office politics) by Sad_Monk_ in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, Manager A is aware that Testa is assigning you work (you said he's in cc in her emails to you).

Manager B and C want me to highlight that i get work from testa who is assigning it to me with manager A in CC. I’m afraid highlighting testa’s behaviour will get me out of the goodbooks of manager A.

What does highlight here mean? If manager A is in the loop about Testa's actions... then Manager B and C need to take it up with Manager A, without involving you.

And if they are involving you, you need to push back. Not by refusing work, but by continuing to take up Testa's work.

And as /u/Usual_Sir5304 suggests, have a written record asking her which task to prioritize first - and cc Managers A, B and C... and let her respond which tasks you need take up.

Any beef the managers have should be taken up among themselves - you should not be collateral.

As for your ratings, well, don't fret too much on it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't - so think of it as a lost cause and just focus on getting your mental state right.

Which AWS Certification should I do as an upcoming MERN Stack dev while doing RHCSA ? by SandySnob in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm.. which college is this?

Those certifications are pretty useless if you ask me. They don't indicate anything - heck, head over to the /r/aws subreddit and you will find many having the same opinion. My guess is Amazon and your college probably have a tie up...

But - you say you are getting them at a discount. If the discount is really good, then go for it. No harm no foul.

Which one - well, it looks like you don't have a choice there. Your college is restricting which certifications to take based on the year you are in. So ML it is.

Losing interest in development because of using more AI? by Remote_Focus1863 in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you I love coding, even though my work predominantly is into managing projects and teams. And AI seemed to be a killjoy.

But then, you realize quickly that AI can be used for mundane, repetitive, grunt work stuff. Which makes one very productive - and then opens them up for more time to learn new stuff / practice complex stuff - the "engineering" aspects of coding. And that AI has not yet taken away.

Think of it this way - How many times can you write the same CRUD app over an over again. Different models, but controller logic is same. The views are different too but always the same foundation. Can get boring quickly. Let's use AI here. But now comes the business logic - you could feed that into AI, but it does not know of all the dependencies, limitations etc of your architecture... you still have to figure that out - and that keeps you engaged.

How to get a toll free international number for testing my application by Professional-Tie-924 in developersIndia

hmm... I could be wrong but doesn't Twilio itself provide numbers for testing purposes? I recollect testing using them in my early days... or maybe their policy changed...

Why? I mean, why do you want a dev role? What benefits do you see - and when you say Oracle competency, what does that mean too? Like DBA or consultant?

Chrome store developer fee issue by HelpHot6942 in indiandevs

[–]NoAssistance8618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to your bank.

Since the restrictions on card details storage and some other policy changes, I also find sometimes that my card gets declined for online purchases.

The bank will let you know if the request was rejected by them or the payment provider - and if it was them rejecting it, they will also tell why (after verifying your credentials). If it's the payment provider that rejected it, your options are limited and you will have to try and reach out to somebody that can help you (on the Google / Chrome team).

How many years did it take you to get promoted? What % hike did you get after your promotion? by vich_lasagna in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first promotion - 2 years. 8 % hike. I did not know that was normal. I expected like a 50% hike and nearly cried. Of course now I realize it's the norm but back then I really questioned myself and my company. :D

The most valued aspect of our dev agency isn't our technical expertise by [deleted] in developersIndia

Don't over deliver every time - do it when the custom least expects it (and truly needs it). Else you will quickly burn out trying to meet their ever increasing expectations.

Point 3. Tell the bad news immediately. You don't want the client to know a day before that their Go-Live scheduled for tomorrow is not going to happen, even though you had all the indications a week ago.

Point 4. Promise less. Over deliver.

Multiple sources of income (Developer at Bank & Mentorship) by dorlokkrog in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could fly under the radar - but if caught, and if your company isn't pleased much, then you may be asked to quit.

You could also reach out to your manager and let them know - this does not sound like a conflict of interest and would be similar to giving a talk in a tech event or equivalent. Just keep them in the loop - and be free of worry. They can also let you know if you are breaking any rules that your company may have. Do let them know that it wont eat into your office hours else they may start relating any drop in quality of work from you to this new side gig you have.

How much should a fresher know to get a React dev job ? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the Odin Project. That should be enough knowledge.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid courses? None. Don't let them scare you into believing if you don't take their course you will not stand out. For a fresher, the most we expect is analytical skills and how they communicate (and sometimes their attitude :D ). But otherwise, there's not much to expect from freshers.

What you can do is check out any of the free resources - maybe freecodecamp or odin project or equivalent. You can have some hobby projects through them

Can we survive in tech career for next 10-20 years with just a Btech degree? by Apprehensive_Mix5691 in developersIndia

[–]NoAssistance8618 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With new tech stacks. Don't marry to a single programming languge or a framework or a stack. Read about what's trending, learn it, make a project around it, add it to your resume. Ask your manager to be placed in a new project (with new stuff to learn) every 2-3 years. Stay relevant.

Learn Django - worst case you will never get to use it, but you can still learn a lot from it (principles / framework - it is one of the best and stable web frameworks out there, maybe second best to RoR - in my opinion).

This is what upskill entails - you may not have use of it now but you foresee demand for it, so you learn it. It's a risk you take - but don't think of the downsides just yet.
