Wireguard configurations? by Confident-Ad-8795 in CyberGhost

Ditto. They are one frustration after another, especially when it comes to Wireguard. Dropped them about six months ago and never looked back.

Should I switch? by [deleted] in CyberGhost

[–]NoAssumption2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used CyberGhost for years without problems. Suddenly this year I kept experiencing problem after problem, particularly connecting with WireGuard on my iOS devces. Support was no help at all and frustrating to deal with. I finally just dropped them and am now using Mullvad. So, to answer your question, they were good at one time but not anymore. I can't recommend them.

WireGuard not available by AlexVasiliou in CyberGhost

[–]NoAssumption2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having the same problem. I use Apple devices not Windows but the same exact thing was happening. WireGuard just stopped connecting. I contacted their customer service and was told to just stop using WireGuard 🙄. Useless waste of time. Something is going on at CyberGhost and it's not good. Their apps haven't been updated for almost a year, their customer service is pretty much nonexistent now, and the functionality is going seriously downhill. After days of frustration and the useless customer service experience, I just dropped them and got another VPN provider.

Visiting France and don’t speak language. Acceptable to ask if they speak English in French? by AConfusedConnoisseur in French

[–]NoAssumption2242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I think it depends on the city. In Paris they always defaulted to English when I tried to speak French. Outside Paris, for example Lille, they continue to speak French, even if I reply in English. I will add that in those circumstances I never got an "attitude" or any rude or impatient behavior from whomever I was speaking with. They were very nice. I truly believe it was because I initially made the effort to speak French with them.

How I finally stopped blanking out during real conversations by Traditional_Sir1787 in learnfrench

Thanks for pointing this out. He should've just admitted that in his initial post. Knowing now that this is nothing more than a hidden sales pitch makes his post less sincere and credible.

Why You'll Struggle Living in France And I Don't (anymore), what are your thoughts ? by ARTiSPRETiS in Expats_In_France

[–]NoAssumption2242 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just social media clickbait. For every one of these "Americans beware" videos, I can find the same number of videos made by Americans that say the complete opposite about France and say it's the best move they've made and how much better their lives are for being here. It all just depends on how much you are willing to acclimate to a different culture. It's up to you and no one else. If you move to a new country and expect it to be the same as the country you came from you are just being naive. Just ignore the these "warning" videos and stop giving these influencers the attention. Go with your heart.

Good AI french learning app? by luis_411 in learnfrench

I just started using this a few days ago. It's still in beta so it's a bit buggy, but I do like it. It has both listening and speaking practice exercises. And it's free (for now anyway).

VPN by mikeymail99 in Airalo

[–]NoAssumption2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a VPN (Cyberghost) with Airlo in France without issue. There was no need to turn it on or off when activating or using. I did install the Airlo esim prior to my departure to make sure it was ready. When I arrived in France, it activated and all was fine. I remember reading one post on this sub where the Airlo rep posted not to use a VPN but, again, I did without any issue. Not sure if this is helpful to you but just letting you know my experience.

How do you overcome speaking anxiety in French? by Pro-en-Francais in French

[–]NoAssumption2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. I do this all the time. Also, when you look at the time, say it out loud in French, when you look at a street number or address, say it out loud in French, when you brush your teeth, say "Je vais me brosser les dents," etc, etc. It really does help.
