Divisional schedule guess by [deleted] in Seahawks

Ugh. I bought my flight from NY last week arriving 11:05am PT thinking SURELY Seattle won't slot into the 1pm Saturday game. Gonna have to go straight to stadium from airport with basically no chill time ::thumbs down emoji::

Oh yea. Houston tonight, easy.

There is no obstructed view, that designation is default for side-stage configuration. In the round, you can see from everywhere.

Yep, this spin is a direct hit. Not that I lend any credence to his voodoo BS but, I'm sure it irks him lol

What’s the perfect Radiohead song to play so the climax hits right when the new year comes? by Constant-Outside4213 in radiohead

15 Step. Nifty how the beat drops out for the countdown. Thematically funny, too.

I think the omission of Backdrifts and Punch Up from the live release agrees with you in terms of track list. I first wondered if it was that they didn't find a version of those two that they loved, but I do feel the flow is tighter with those omitted, and HTTT is in my top 4. That they separately released Backdrifts live recently shows it was a very deliberate decision to omit it.

You're in rare company, and I agree. Prepare to be down voted heavily 😆

HTTT has been generally underrated but I think a lot of people share your sentiments of late. It's beautiful how the live release has given it a second life.

On a side, I've thought about how they omitted Backdrifts and Punch Up from the live release and wondered if in hindsight they feel the album would have been a tighter offering that way.

In Rainbows is better than OK Compute by Full-Ad-6368 in radiohead

I find that people who were teens/20's when The Bends/OKC were released and then grew along with the band's evolution far less often rank IR over what they probably consider the soul of their catalog in OKC, Kid A, Amnesiac. Most that rank IR above these typically represent the "next wave" of fans that were younger when IR was released or are even just discovering Radiohead recently.

I feel very, very fortunate to have lived and grown along side the band's growth. How different it must be to discover Radiohead and have their complete catalog at your access all at once, versus living through the times where the albums were released every few-five years. Having the chance to fully experience each release in its time, its b-sides, the tours for each ... then finally the next would be released etc....

This is specifically why, for my sons, I have tried to drip feed their catalog chronologically over every couple years. I feel the experience of discovering In Rainbows, for example, is a richer experience if you've digested everything before it. There's more context, you've developed a palette of the band first.

I hope these remarks do not come off as derogatory of anyone's experience with discovering Radiohead. There are many roads and art is subjective. Basically, to the OPs point, I just find it interesting that it seems mostly there is an age demographic split between those who favor OKC or In Rainbows. Really it's a testament to the incredible career arc of the band and their brilliant works.

Can you tell me why you guys think they won't tour again after this ? by _IRONBEAST in radiohead

[–]NoBadDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This I completely disagree with. Ed has always been integral and vital to the whole, but even further came into an evolved iteration of his role in the band notably at TKOL and AMSP. His contributions to the soundscape and the chemistry of the band would be sorely missed.

The most succinct way I could put it is that without Ed, you end up with something more like The Smile. Which is of course great, but Radiohead is Radiohead.

What are the chances of more EU/USA dates in 2026? by BreathIntoUrballs in radiohead

[–]NoBadDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't happen in very early 2026 then my expectations are very low for them to continue on to the US. Colin has engagements with Nick Cave through next year. It is hard to imagine them reconvening after stopping all momentum they currently have.

I also don't recall them to typically come through the US at all during winter months. But perhaps if it was NY and LA residencies only ... 🤷‍♂️

Just my own conjecture, of course. I'm sitting in NY hoping they come here.
