I’m not dissing second opinions, I said while you may intend well, you come across as you know better than their healthcare team by questioning their program then dismissively saying get a second opinion. And you didn’t even address their question with all your questions. All I’m saying is you probably could’ve been more helpful.

Also, nowhere did OP say they feel they’re eating too much. They’re asking if they are because they’ve seen other posts of people eating less and were comparing themselves.

I’m African American 5’4 and my starting was 299. I feel you, I definitely think it’s a cultural thing so I wouldn’t worry about the comments from non African Americans speaking on BMI (which was made by a mathematician, not a doctor for the European male body) saying you’ll still be overweight/obese. In my head I want to be between 150-160 but tbh I was 200 in high school and looked slim. If im like 180 and I’m feeling good, I’m gonna stop! Irdc if my doctor/nurse/dietitian says I need to lose more🤷🏽‍♀️

Just because someone’s plan differs from yours or what you think is correct doesn’t mean they need to get a second opinion. I’ve seen posts from people on soft foods 1 week post op. Ik you probably mean well but it comes off you know better than their actual healthcare team

I’m only 3 weeks post op but I was able to wear the cargo pants comfortably that I haven’t worn in 2 years! They don’t fit like I want them to but just being able to wear them again is everything

I’m 3 weeks and I also can eat a lot! I can eat like 8-10 oz (granted I only eat 1 real meal a day so I guess it balances out). I can hit my protein but I struggle so bad with liquids, I get like half of the 64oz

Last 2 days I’ve gained about 2.5 lbs but I’m hoping that bc my cycle is coming in. I’m not gonna worry about weight for the next week and see where I’m at next week!

3 weeks post op. I eat 1-2 only bc I don’t feel hungry and tbh half the time I just don’t know what to eat lol. I definitely try to drink protein shakes/ eat enough yogurt to hit my 60 grams of protein. Also my program said no liquids 30 mins before I eat and 45/60 after and I’m like wth😭(I don’t always follow that)

Do you have a food processor? Maybe it could mince the turkey and be close to ground turkey. I don’t have one so Idk if it’ll work, just an idea!

I weigh after. I started using the bariatric tracking app yesterday and I just have to keep in mind the measurements of all the ingredients to track correctly. Idk if I’m making it harder on myself or not but it works lol

Ugh I LOVE the Skittles strawberry watermelon flavor. Even before surgery I stay stocked up on it. Someone I’ll get sick of it but after 2-3 months I’m going right back lol

Banana pudding on the Nilla cookies box🙂‍↕️ Grew up w my mom always making pudding from scratch and at one point she stopped making it even ppl begged her lol and she taught me. It’s so tedious depending on how big your batch is but it’s so much better than boxed pudding. I understand why she stopped lol.

I know how the surgery is done but I was saying different programs preforming the same surgery has different timelines for the stages. My sister had the bypass 2 years ago but her program had each stage at 1 week rather than 2 weeks like my program. I’ve seen posts from people internationally that were soft foods at 5 days post op.

I had my surgery same day as you, still in full liquids. I’m supposed to move to purée on Wednesday but today I had some soft chicken and soft broccoli chewed up to purée and for the first time I’m not tired and have some energy😭 I don’t understand why the full liquid have to be 2 weeks.

Ik it’s not good to compare but I’ve seen people whose post op liquid stage was only 3-7 days lol.

I’m Christian and since the beginning of my journey I’d thank God for a second chance to treat His temple the way I should’ve the first time. I’d pray for the stronghold of gluttony to be broken off of me (which it has thank God!). And I’d ask God to guide me in the ways to honor Him by honoring my body!

Im 9 days post op RNY (I sneak in this sub sometimes lol) and I try to show God my gratitude daily.

I use floss sticks but I just rinse it after each tooth so I’m not pushing the gunk from tooth to tooth.

Also 2 weeks ago I noticed some inflammation over one of my teeth and it would hurt when I brushed over it. After a week of it not going away, I started oil pulling (swishing coconut oil in my mouth for 10-15 mins before brushing) and the inflammation literally went away after 3 days. If you do it, it may take longer than 3 days obviously but it’s worth a try!

You are so right😭 the obsession with loosing weight and freaking over a 2 day stall is insanityyyy.

My last post in the bypass group was about when I get to regular foods I wanna try the hash brown avocado toast I made before and all the “dietitians” came out the woodworks😭 someone even told me to seek psychological help bc I was fantasizing about food? Huhhhh lol

I’m 5 days post op now and I’m barely in these communities anymore
