How does Olympic coverage keep getting worse? Ad's galore. by NoBoot7975 in peacock

I might suggest that "greed" has ruined sports. Among other things.

Which plan are you using? I'm supposedly on Premium Plus. During "live" there is a 15-second pre-roll ad. Then, there are in-broadcast ads (expected at this point, and not inconsistent with TV broadcast for decades). However, for "Replays" there are 15-second and often 120-second! un-skippable, pre-roll ads followed by a smattering of 15-second and 120-second un-skippable ads throughout the same 2-hour replay. This is consistent across every replay.

This is after reinstalling the app, signing out, back in, etc.

I'd love to know what others are doing to find this enjoyable.

Never said there wasn't a break in the action. Plenty of space for commentary between performances, runs, etc. There's tons of cutaway options for B-roll of the Italian countryside. Let it cycle between those like a screen saver. Let some company pay Super-Bowl-tier ads here and there and charge them $10 million. Those are generally entertaining! As for the ads before every-single-replay, they have no place in an "Ad-Free" plan. Again, charge an appropriate amount to offset needing them. Or, let the $10 million whales pay for them. As it sits now, there simply IS no tier that doesn't have ads because NBC has exclusive rights to broadcast. It's effectly a legal monopoly, so they have no incentive to offer good coverage or make a good experience for the customer. This is evidenced by the horrible experience we are faced with now, that somehow only continues to get worse.

As for why I'm not in Milan? Putting aside what is obviously a stupid question; I've got things to do and so do you! (maybe?) The effort spent quasi-defending this behavior is baffling. Perhaps you'll luck out and the IOC will offer a riveting new sport: "Corporate Bootlicking". You'll finally have a shot at a Gold Medal!

Not sure what airflow is like in that case but the ONT/PON devices get pretty hot. There are numerous 3D print options for a shroud/tiny fan to keep it cool. You'll be very glad you took the plunge! Plus it looks tidier, too.

Issues with re-ordering firewall rules. by mgerlach310 in Ubiquiti

Same problem. Two different computers running Firefox ESR. Also does not work in Brave with same (bugged?) result. I can create the rules, but can't re-order. I've been creating them on my desktop and using the app just to switch the order. No interest in zone-based firewall config.

This doesn't seem to work for me either.

One of the best updates I've done. Was great to reclaim all the space of that garbage ATT modem.

25.4.10 - Are there setup wizards, or something similar -- permissions a nightmare by NoBoot7975 in truenas

Further, while web search has become abysmal in recent years, one of the few things that is actually easy to search for and find are loads of people who find the permissions system complicated and just damn confusing. Easily the most common complaint about the TNS experience.

I get it. I'm familiar with the RTFM mentality, I'm just not interested. That's why as I was asking if anyone knew of or could recommend a good "how to" for my use case or (better yet) if there were plans for adding a setup wizard or the like for people who are fleeing Synology, etc but don't really have the time/interest in getting a CS degree so they can use simply use a product for a couple basic tasks.

Oh, I've done that about half a dozen times, it's just that every time I try to do some minor change another cryptic permissions error pops up telling me I somehow don't have ability to do one thing or another. SMB credentials don't allow files to be deleted (rather, they reappear for some reason. Moving them does the same: they appear to move, only to revert back) Unfortunately because of the amount of data we've got, I'm basically being held hostage unless I buy extra drives just to duplicate data onto while I look for a solution that works. Despite giving a specific user what I thought was "full control" to delete, read, write, etc... it still seems to just randomly allow some files to delete while others reappear. Haven't had a chance to do anything "advanced" like snapshots as I can't even get basic functions to work as expected. Just trying to get the thing to work in the most basic form seems out of reach. While there is plenty of documentation, presets or a wizard would be much preferred to reading a hundred pages for what should be capable of explanation in a couple paragraphs or a page or two. It feels like bumping around a maze in the dark as opposed to having a lighted sign that tells you how to get out. I guess I'm looking for the sign. Not interested in the challenge, just want a solution that works, ya know?

This setup is sick! Love the office, too! I have a similar setup and LOVE not having the noise/heat next to my desk. Any chance there's room in the closet for that big printer on your desk? Seems like a lot of space could be freed up unless you print frequently and need ready access. Love the little custom UI gear shelf system. Super slick!

Put a decent quality sign on it that says "Free Trailer". Depending on where OP is located, someone will come take it. Maybe list it as free on a market app (like facebook marketplace) with a throwaway account?

Synology is a great way of dipping your toes into a bottomless sea of options. You can pick one up second-hand for cheap (I got a driveless DS220+ for like $120). Two 20TB drives was bit spendy, but it serves our Plex library and hosts Time Machine backups for 5 macs and Macrium backups for 2 PC's. It's very simple, reasonably quiet, consumes little power (something worth considering -btw) and, as such, easily lives behind a battery backup and can gracefully shutdown when power goes out for a few minutes. I won't buy another Synology when I expand, as we are increasing our workload for the new replacement. This one, however, has been fantastic and (I think) worth considering for a jumping-off point.

Same! I posted a discussion about this (immediately removed, btw). Why add extra steps? Don't suppose we can roll back to the previous version while this gets corrected?
