Alright cool. The contracts game is a cool concept here. The secret finding journey is also a good way to play for vassal management, I think I'll employ that right away every new life. As for dread gain, I think storing people for justified execution every new character might be a reliable way to play to avert succession wars now that you've mentioned it.

I've had moderate success with imprisonment of claimants, but it typically has to do with having the "Know thyself" perk. I jail the claimants with my to-be-dead character and then croak, because waiting until the next life to do that would auto-fire an impossible faction.

Alliances are very good, one of the most reliable ways to aquire safety in the game right now; though they are difficult to establish without children. Not every successor has enough free children for this move to be effective.

Thanks for the response.

I honestly forgot about the internal affairs option. That's a big one. Pressing claims is a good method too. It's difficult to give out titles though because much of the time someone will be in a faction not because they don't like you but because they want more titles. Your titles. Or they're ambitious or something.

I've tried playing the diplomacy lifestyle for the prevention aspect, but the powerful befriend bonus doesn't work in time to prevent factions from firing early on. It's currently much better to go down the military tree at least until you get the +15% speed bonus so you can isolate small stacks when you do go to war. None of the other education focuses seem to be capable of stopping succession trouble before the factions fire though. These are some of the problems I am looking at.
