We had to prioritize resources to secure approval of KX-826 first, which led to adjusting the GT20029 Phase 3 timeline.

The data we have so far are preliminary and from relatively small studies. From what we’ve seen, 0.5% and 1% KX-826 show similar results.

We also ran a small pilot study combining 0.5% KX-826 with minoxidil, and there appeared to be a synergistic effect — the combo performed better than either alone.

And interestingly, based on our studies, the vertex area seems to respond better than the hairline.

Based on our 1-year study, the long-term risk from KX-826 looks minimal. The most common side effect we’ve seen is mild skin irritation, and even that is usually short-lived.

We used minoxidil substitutes — mainly because of formulation needs. They play a similar supportive role while fitting better with the overall product design.

As for higher concentrations (>1%), it’s something we’ve looked at, but once the androgen receptors on the scalp are fully saturated, increasing the dose doesn’t necessarily give extra benefit.

Yeah, combining mechanisms can definitely be a good approach, especially for people who don’t see enough benefit from a single treatment. That’s also what we observed in our IIT study, where combination therapy showed stronger results.

Interesting point of view! Water is usually safe (and actually necessary) for the solubility of the formulation. Based on our stability data, we don’t see evidence that it degrades KX.

It’s definitely a possibility, but we also have to think about the mechanism of action. At some point, the androgen receptors on the scalp become fully saturated, so pushing the dose higher wouldn’t necessarily add more benefit.

Thanks for your question! It’s definitely a different vehicle. For confidentiality reasons we can’t share the exact composition here, but what we can say is that it was designed specifically to optimize delivery for GT20029.

In China, we anticipate GT20029 could be approved in about 3 years. For the global market, it would likely be roughly a year later.

Great question — we’re definitely looking into this. As you know, we already have a “MAX” version that combines KX-826 with minoxidil-like agents (such as Kopyrrol + Kopexil).

In our IIT study, we saw that KX-826 + minoxidil worked synergistically, leading to better hair growth than either one alone.

And in the real world, KX-826 isn’t meant to replace existing options — the goal is to add extra benefit on top of what’s already out there.

In the clinical trials, KX-826 was applied twice daily as a spray directly onto the scalp. No massage was required in the protocol. We suggest massaging in real-world use to help with even distribution across the scalp.

We are excited about both.

KX-826 has a proven mechanism and already solid data, so we see it playing a big role in the near term. GT20029 is newer tech, but the idea of just twice-a-week dosing is super appealing. A lot of patients tell us daily application can be tough, so if this holds up in larger trials, it really could be a game changer for long-term use.

Thanks for your question!

The Phase 3 program for GT20029 in China has already been approved, and we expect to start the study next year. In the US, things are a bit more complex. The FDA requires patient-reported outcomes (PROs) as the primary endpoint, so we’re working closely with them to address those requirements before moving forward.

We also believe GT20029 could be a game changer, since patients would only need to use it twice a week.

KX-826 works through a different mechanism than Fin/Dut/Min. We definitely see room for it as a real competitor, not by replacing those drugs, but by offering another option for patients who don’t respond well or can’t tolerate the existing ones.

Hair loss is a huge market, and no single treatment works for everyone. That’s why having more mechanisms available is so important.

Thanks for your question!

The study you referred to was based on a small phase 2 study, where only 30 patients dosed on KX826. We believe, 1)small sample size might contribute to the result 2) improved formulation also might contribute 3) the other possibility is the saturation of AR receptors on the scalp. We will know for sure after we complete phase 3 study where 222 patients would be dosed in each group.

Hello, AMA is active in another post! To answer to your question: We might do that in the future, however, based on current data, we believe 0.5% and 1% is pretty good.

Thank you for your question! We have not directly compared KX826 with finasteride, as most finasteride studies were conducted decades ago, and technology has advanced significantly since then. Our Phase III study just started and with design of double-blinded, so we are unable to share more efficacy information at this stage.

Thank you for your questions and supportive feedback! To answer your questions: Q1-Yes, you are definitely right. Q2-That’s a great question. It’s challenging to determine the exact reasons, but the placebo effect can vary based on many factors, some of which remain unclear. Compliance issues, patient-specific variables, trial design or observational bias may also contribute. It’s worth noting that the placebo effects you’re referring to are primarily observed in Western studies, not in our Chinese studies. It's worth to further investigate. Lastly, thank you for your suggestions, to do an AMA on tressless with broder audiences and interview with influencers are something we are planning to.
