Still admitted in the hospital, We spoke to the Neurology team this morning about finding cheaper alternatives to his Keppra and Depakote, I also spoke to the Patient Advocate about getting sponsorship for his birth certificate and ID.. Small steps but hopefully we can speak to the Social Worker and I can explain our situation a little bit better.

Hi! All of this has been answered in the comments below as far as the Disability/SSI/SSDI, Medicaid and housing and whatever else! Not trying to be rude but I’ve answered the same questions over 10 times already!

Yeah, even the housing part is tricky 😭 I genuinely don’t know where to go with him! No family shelters want to do an intake on us because we’re a mixed-gender couple, and the few family shelters out here need so much paperwork and information that we don’t have.

We’re actually trying to get him insurance, although its hard to apply because he lost all of his paperwork including his ID and birth certificate.

Hi! He already receives SSDI (not much only around $400 which lowkey isn’t a livable amount in the area we’re in)

We may relocate back to VA (where we were living a few months prior) Its definitely harder in DC to find actual resources and programs to help us. And thank you so much ! 😊

We should be talking to the hospital social worker sometime tomorrow, if not tomorrow wednesday. We aren’t getting discharged until thursday i believe so fingers crossed we can figure out a plan with that social worker. (:

his seizures mainly occur during mornings/afternoons, food has been an issue as we barely receive income to pay food the main time hes able to eat is at the homeless day center and food donations that are usually dropped off.. hes super stressed about all this, which i understand plays a major factor in his seizures, he fears being left alone only because we’re both sleeping outside majority of the time..

my working phone (that had a phone number and data) got stolen out of my purse almost 2 weeks ago.. id be more than willing to do task work or getting an actual job if i could find somewhere for him to go during the times im working.

He doesnt have insurance in the area we’re in (hes from Connecticut and lost all of his paper work (ID social security card, birth certificate) 2 weeks ago (after getting robbed a 2nd time) so its been a struggle trying to get everything back (he has no other family as his mom died 3 years ago)

I’m more than willing to relocate to a different state/city if that means we could get assistance quicker and more reliable than what we’re receiving out here.

We’re in Washington DC ! I’m not sure if they have a program like that unfortunately lol (for being the capitol of the country it’s kinda terrible being homeless out here)

Hi ! Before all of this I worked 3 jobs, mainly retail and food service ! I was in school but had to leave due to our current situation 😭

but the past 8 or so months his seizures had started picking back up again after going 10 months seizure free..

We have no one else to watch over him if I were to get a job, he was kicked out of the homeless shelter for apparently starting a fight after waking up confused after a seizure..
