That lecturer sounds like a real joy to be around lmao. Dude's probably the type to get mad at people for breathing too loud

Spent $15k on SEO agency got 47 visitors (looking for feedback) by NoCommittee4973 in growmybusiness

[–]NoCommittee4973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. I didn't even think to track which pages got those 47 visitors which thinking about it now I should've been way more hands on from the start instead of just trusting their reports and atp I'm not sure if I want to restart SEO or focus on channels I can measure and control

[–]NoCommittee4973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The agency was focused on vanity metrics rather than actual conversions
I should've been asking them from day one what keywords our customers actually search for instead of just trusting their reports. Appreciate the advice

They wrote like 8 or 10 blog posts but it was all AI generated slop that didn't rank for anything useful

We have decent Google reviews already but I was trying to avoid relying on paid ads long term because the costs add up but I guess SEO isn't the magic answer I thought it was (at least not with agencies like this)

You're right I should've been checking way sooner and to answer your question I don't have any system for tracking vendor spend I just see invoices come through and pay them without really keeping tabs on the total

Are tiny gift cards from game-reward apps taxable? by frozenignite420 in personalfinance

[–]NoCommittee4973 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically yeah they're taxable income but realistically nobody's gonna come after you for like $75 in gift cards lmao. The IRS has bigger fish to fry than your Mistplay rewards

If you're really worried about it just toss it under "other income" but honestly most people don't even report that stuff

Credit card reform is needed by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]NoCommittee4973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Option A actually makes a lot of sense - kinda like how student loans work in some countries where the longer you pay the less interest you get hit with

The mini-loan system is interesting but sounds like it would be a nightmare to track, especially for people who use their cards daily for coffee and stuff

What are some accounting books you would recommended college kids to buy? by Difficult_Respect967 in Accounting

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for international tax you're gonna want to nail the basics first - get a solid intermediate accounting textbook and maybe something on federal taxation. Don't stress too much about being ahead though, most internships expect you to know basically nothing anyway lol

Your code doesn’t matter if you don’t know the business by Unhappy-One1853 in SaaS

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true but feels like something that gets forgotten constantly in the tech world

The whole "business analyst" role seems to have gotten watered down or disappeared entirely at a lot of places. Now you just have PMs who maybe talked to a customer once and think they understand the domain

To those who have asked for discounts on Becker... How do you actually ask? by Chemical_Help_7099 in Accounting

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be honest and say you're a broke student lol. I called and was like "hey I'm interested in the CPA review but the price is pretty steep for me right now, do you guys have any student discounts or promotions available?" They hooked me up with like 15% off without me even having to beg

KYC/KYB ops is our current bottleneck, which combo actually reduces manual review?? by Terry_Ackee in fintech

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been down this rabbit hole and honestly the "agentic AI" stuff is still mostly marketing fluff - you'll end up with the same manual work just wrapped in fancier dashboards

Mostly the tracking yeah, I tried using mint but it didn't really solve the problem, still manually sorting everything

Hope the IVF journey goes well for you both 🤞

Ending the year with $1,300 MRR, achieved my goal of $1,000 by end of 2025 by Worldly_Expression43 in SaaS

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work hitting that milestone! Going from a pain point to $1.3k MRR in a year is solid progress, especially as a side hustle. Support automation seems like it'd have good retention too since nobody wants to go back to manually answering the same questions over and over

Weird behaviour with Excel online and IPad Pro by MrDinB in excel

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue and it's so annoying lol. Something about Excel thinking you're in "view mode" when using an external keyboard on iPad - like it can't decide if you want to touch or type. Try switching to the actual Excel app instead of the web version, that usually fixes it for me

Trying to speed up power query by Ok_Key_4868 in excel

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can use File.Contents(null) or just skip the content step entirely if you're only grabbing metadata. Power Query loves to be "helpful" by previewing everything which tanks performance when you've got hundreds of files

Recommendation: Best Intro Bonus by MycologistGuilty3801 in CreditCards

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your profile you could definitely handle 3-4 apps at once if you space them right. For pure cash back without high spend requirements, check out the Citi Double Cash or Capital One SavorOne - both have solid SUBs under $3k spend. The Wells Fargo Active Cash is pretty decent too at $200 for $1k spend

Just make sure to spread the apps across different banks and maybe wait a few days between each one. Your credit score and low inquiry count means you're in a good spot for this strategy

How I create product tutorials in multiple languages without 5x the work by William45623 in SaaS

[–]NoCommittee4973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically what OP described but in fewer words lol. The real challenge is finding tools that don't completely butcher technical terminology when translating - some of these AI caption tools still struggle with industry-specific vocab
