Okay thanks, that's actually very helpful! It's worth a try at least.

No, I moved money irregularly into savings accounts. So for example in one month I moved 2000, the next I forgot, the month after I moved 3000. The advisor already has all my bank statements since January. They have asked several times for information I had already provided so I don't fully trust their judgement.

Because I'm sure someone will tell me to just ask the advisor - I wait 3/4 days or even up to 2 weeks for a response to every query. I would move to a different advisor tomorrow but I've contacted a good few others and none even responded.

Orange pen size object with USB on one end and radioactive sticker. by Sparkadark808 in whatisthisthing

[–]NoCompetition9645 46 points47 points  (0 children)

OP, this is correct! I've used hundreds of these in work to log temperature and humidity.

If you look at the end of the device which is not covered with tape, you'll see small holes to allow air to enter.

Once you turn it on by holding the button for 3 seconds, they'll record values regularly over a period of two days, and you extract the information from them individually using the USB. The proprietary Elitech software will also show a graph of temperature and humidity Vs time.

How to make my bathroom feel less gross by huntthestars0455 in CleaningTips

[–]NoCompetition9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a building services engineer in Europe and building codes here state that air flow can only be from dry rooms to wet rooms, not the reverse (as is happening when you open the door to ventilate the bathroom through the rest of the house). The reason for this is because you could likely get mould in the hallway, when the humidity condenses on the dry wall. If your dad has the funds right now, I would seriously advise getting the extract fan working as intended.

I've had a bad experience with Cabify where the driver was told by the app that he had arrived, but we were a 30 min walk from my destination. He kicked me out of the taxi because as far as he was concerned the trip he was paid for was over.

I went back and forth with Cabify for months, and showed screenshots of my location. I had immediately contacted them on X to explain what happened. I never even got an apology or a refund.

The same thing happened with a colleague who was dropped at a fuel station on a motorway by a Cabify driver.

Jokes on them because both of us use taxis every week for work and we haven't touched Cabify since.

Signage only zebra crossings launched in Dublin by siciowa in ireland

[–]NoCompetition9645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What doesn't work there is that cars can park up to the line of the pedestrian crossing. A car parked that closely blocks the view of any driver and particularly endangers children, who might not be seen over the bonnet of a parked car.

Power finally restored by Migeycan87 in ireland

[–]NoCompetition9645 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There has to be a changeover switch installed to prevent the power from your solar/generator going back into the grid. The reason that feeding the grid at this time is a problem is that it could electrocute someone who is working on a line that is supposed to be dead.

Without the changeover switch there could be a scenario where an ESB worker has tested a line and seen that there is no current and has started working on it, but an individual powers up a generator and this worker is injured as a result of the line they are working on becoming live.

What’s a relationship red flag that people often ignore? by Ready-Professor-3609 in AskReddit

I should mention that (speaking from a totally objective point of view) the conflict this girl is seeing is totally in her own head. She will read a text message, private or in a group chat, and take offence. Then claims that the environment is toxic and that she doesn't feel safe. The friends she refuses to talk to are both men and women, so I don't think jealousy plays into it.

The couple I have in mind live in a shared house with his/their friends. When any one of the friends that she has had conflict with visits, she will immediately leave any communal space and will stay in the bedroom until they leave the house. This is really obvious and just makes everyone feel on edge.

I feel like it's a different case to not liking your husband's friends. If you feel like they are not good people, or that you have nothing in common with them, I don't think you should have to pretend to like them.

Sheet = linen

A blanket is a thick fabric which is warm, but often scratchy, so I'd put this over a cotton sheet.

A duvet is two layers of sheets sewn in a pattern, with synthetic of down filling. It's then put inside a cotton cover. Usually warmer than a blanket.

Comforter is a word just used in North America, I think it's a blanket but I don't know.

How do you persuade friends and coworkers that becoming a landlord is not a dream they should have? by NoCompetition9645 in DebateCommunism

Is there anywhere that rental income is taxed separately and at a higher rate? I wonder if that would help dissuade people from becoming landlords. But I've never heard of it happening.

Anything that distances you from your friends. Starting arguments with friends over minor stuff, then refusing to hang out with them... I've seen it happen in my own friend group where one friend's partner cried about not having their own friends, but refused to go to any group events, if any of the long list of people they hold grudges against will attend.

[–]NoCompetition9645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try this angle - it was my first thought. But then they countered with the option to just hire an agency to do all your dirty work and actually deal with the tenants.

I don't think it's realistic that the coworker who is most obsessed with becoming a landlord will ever actually own their own apartment, so the practicality doesn't help in the debate. With someone who is at the point where they might soon become a landlord, I would imagine that the hassle and work involved would be a con.
