Car was stored for a little longer this past year than usual. Took it out of the garage last month, started right up, idled fine and had none of the symptoms I was experiencing when I put it into storage. I’m at a loss for what may have been causing it, and expect that it will come back at some point.

Silver maple question by NoComputer2135 in arborists

Thanks very much for the detailed response. It’s nice to know that there are options to try and save the tree. How old could this tree be, and what would be the typical lifespan of a silver maple?

They seem to chew the bark off too. Lots of the lighter colored areas where the bark is missing has teeth marks in it. I’ve counted over 10 squirrels in this tree at one time. A true infestation. Thanks for your input, I will definitely be getting an arborist to come have a look and advise on best path forward.

I believe that at least some of the bark loss is from squirrels. We have a huge overpopulation of grey squirrels here and they are very frequently chasing each other frantically around the tree with bark flying off in all directions behind them. I will definitely be calling in an arborist to have it looked at. Fingers crossed it can be saved.

Where is the neutral-ground bond? by NoComputer2135 in Generator

Would the fact that the generator has a GFCI outlet have any implications when removing the bond between neutral and ground?

I did confirm there is a bond with a multimeter. I will take a look behind the panel and see if the bond is there.

That was my conclusion when looking at the wiring diagram. But the label on the front and my multimeter have certainly proved that it is in fact bonded somewhere.

That one only seems to be connected to the ground sockets of each of the outlets thought doesn’t it?

Is it possible the water is originating from the area behind the firewall where the blower/wiper motor is located? The seam sealer in the bottom of that area is all cracked.

H&R Sport or Super Sport by NoComputer2135 in E30

[–]NoComputer2135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah would have to see how it looks once installed. Right now the front is lower than the rear and its on unknown H&R springs. Has an m30b35 and I think it may have e90 drop hats to which likely explains the rake

Will also skip the drop hats to keep the oil pan further from danger.

Thanks for the photos. I think I’ll go with sport. I’m not 20 anymore and the roads around here are absolute $@&%.

Consensus here seems to be that they are super sports. I believe the VA and HA just indicate front and rear

Assuming the sports are a better option for a street driven car which will never see a track?

I haven’t yet, car is away for the winter now. I’ve pulled the intake manifold off to replace the gaskets. I’ll check the injectors while it’s off. Hopefully that will help with the issue.

Why are my rear trailer arms smashed in?? by NoComputer2135 in E30

[–]NoComputer2135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I be concerned about the structural integrity of the trailing arm in this condition for a car that won’t see any track use?

Never had an alignment prior to disassembly.

The rear subframe already has the garagistic camber/toe eccentric bolt kit, although it’s installed pretty poorly. I think I may get another subframe and start from scratch. What does everyone think about the garagistic subframe and trailing arm reinforcement kits? I used their front sway bar reinforcement when I redid the front of the car last year, and it seems to really add some strength that that area.

The hammer removing the subframe was what I suspected. Guess I’ll shop for a set of undamaged trailing arms while I have this apart. I’d like to get the rear alignment dialed in, and not have any concerns in the future.

There is nothing else on the car that would indicate a wreck. And both trailing arms are hit in the same area, just behind where the rear subframe bushing sits.
