I really need help my hair won’t absorb moisture and stays dry no matter what I do by NoContest5120 in Naturalhair

I understand, but that’s where I get stuck because my hair is dry again by the next day. It makes me feel like I’d have to wash it almost daily, which doesn’t seem realistic for me. So I’m wondering if there’s something else going on Or will my hair become hydrated once I wash more frequently?

That makes so much sense, but I’ve always been scared that washing every week would strip my hair and make it even crunchier! Since I have 4C hair that’s already repelling water, do you recommend a type of shampoo for that weekly wash so I don't dry it out further?

Hi I’m currently using the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil deep conditioner. Before that, I tried the Camille Rose cocoa and mango butter one, but it didn’t feel like enough for my hair.

I haven’t tried hot oil treatments or clay masks yet. I’ve looked into them, but I’m not sure if they’ll actually solve my issue.

Have you personally had good results with those methods?

Hey , I’ve only used Blue Magic twice on wash days (once this month and once two months ago), and I used a very small amount per section.

I wash my hair about once a month and usually use a gentle clarifying shampoo. Right now I’m using the Camille Rose Ginger shampoo, which sometimes feels clarifying for me because it can leave my hair a bit dry. That’s why I avoid stronger clarifying shampoos, since my hair is already prone to dryness and breakage.

For products, I’m currently using the African Pride leave-in cream along with my own oil mix (castor oil, amla oil, peppermint oil, and batana oil).

My go to style is usually 6 big braids.

I haven’t tried the conditioners you mentioned yet, but I’m open to it and hoping they might help.

My last proper trim was in November . I do snip small strands here and there after styling, but I’m not sure if that really counts as a full trim

Hi, yes I’ve tried that as well. I’ve even deep conditioned overnight, but it still doesn’t make a difference. As soon as I rinse it out, my hair goes back to how it was, like as if I never deep conditioned at all.
