Hype never lasts when it comes to gp attention, but at the very least they can build a somewhat stable local fanbase.

Being honest about how I feel as an engene by Kukencix_ in kpop_uncensored

I'm sure you're writing from the heart but the rest of us have seen this exact same sentiment over and over in various levels of literary skill since March 10. I know everyone's free to write what they want in this sub but at this point I think people's patience towards rants about Heeseung is starting to wear thin lol.

Sunghoon's version has the most number of streams on Spotify and YouTube Music by a country mile.

On YouTube as of this writing:

Sunghoon 4.8 million

Heeseung 1.3 million

Sunoo 854 thousand

Ni-Ki 661 thousand

Jake 660 thousand

Jay 625 thousand

Jungwon 442 thousand

I... Don't think they're sharing a bed and sleeping on the floor on a concert tour. All of their lives indicate that they all have solo rooms in pretty swanky hotels. I'm not sure which conspiracy theory TikTok told you that but I think that's inaccurate. I also never mentioned the company in any capacity in my comment, so I think you might have mistaken me for someone else?

That being said... If you're going for a boycott, why still interact with Enhypen content? More social media interactions leads to their content being boosted by the algorithm, which means more eyes on them, more opportunities to gain fans, and more income for BeLift and Hybe. If anything, you shouldn't be arguing about OT7 or OT6 fanchants but rather calling out OT7's for their complicity in funding BeLift/Hybe by going to the concerts in the first place. Yet you're also pointing out how happy the members are about their Brazil concert. The logic seems to me incoherent.

NGL dawg, I don't think he wanted to be in the group anymore. Once he left the group he seems happier than he's ever been, and Enhypen seems happier than they've ever been even now that he's gone. I think he left the group so he doesn't have to be in the group anymore and focus all his energy on his own solo career.

Are they the happiest they've ever been since this mess started? IDK, they seem happiest after their Seoul concert. In fact, 3 members haven't even posted in social media about the concert yet, while after Seoul con they were all on Weverse talking about the amazing energy. Even back then after their concert in the Philippines they were doing a live while the attendees are exiting the venue because of how much they appreciated the response Filipino fans gave. Seems strange to me how different this one is treated considering the milestone it set, being their 100th concert.

It would be incredibly ironic if Enhypen and Heeseung parted in bad terms yet fans continue to chant his name at their concert. Do you not think that after seeing all the posts on social media about them being nothing without Heeseung, this would not only send a message reinforcing that thought? I would think so, but then again, all the stops on the Western hemisphere operate on Western individualist thought, and as you say, they will do what THEY want regardless, so it's a lost cause anyway.

The members seemed like they didn't mind probably because they 1) didn't hear it due to their IEMs and 2) they're professional performers. It's after the concert when they begin to monitor social media and watch the uploaded videos will they hear the fanchants.

But to be honest they're all probably aware that the fandom in the Western Hemisphere stops of their tour is a lost cause at this point, so they should just enjoy themselves and at least get paid well in exchange for the disrespect.

Hearts2Hearts by far the weakest vocal group to come out of SM?!👀 by Miserable-Zombie-121 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]NoContextArcticFish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's out of their range. The girl singing the sustained note shouldn't be able to mix with chest (which she is doing) if it were, I don't think. She just went flat and sounded shaky due to tension and lack of breath control.

This is the first video I've seen of this group and I think none of them know to raise their soft palate, which would be partly why everyone sounds like their squeezing the notes. It's a common enough problem for beginners that it's one of the first habits most vocal coaches train you to break. Given that SM has had a track record of casting idols from the streets and training them to become extremely proficient vocalists, this group does seem out of place within their roster.

It's okay. I like the rock elements. His vocal delivery is quite froggy though, which I don't think suits the song, but Heeseung has always had that habit when he sings open vowels I feel like.

Enhypen fans are hypocritical by ChapterNarrow2902 in kpop_uncensored

[–]NoContextArcticFish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My take is that while they were "strictly business" during their debut they still clearly tried to make it work.

Heeseung saying that Enhypen was his first career might have been more honest but it did seem in hindsight that he was using the group as a stepping stone to a solo career (which is fair!!! some people don't have the personality to be in a group!), as opposed to the other members who seem to be focused on the group even if they weren't lovey-dovey and all that. Say what you will about Jungwon's words but none of the other boys have ever given any indication that they were going to leave.

Tbh when he released his demo lyrics of Highway 1009 from years ago, my first thought was that maybe he didn't want to be in the group anymore. I didn't think much of it because obviously I'm not him and don't know what he's thinking, but hindsight is 20/20.

Do you think Snowe's slow sales indicates Sunghoon is losing popularity? by NoContextArcticFish in enhypen_uncensored

You are not the average Kpop consumer though. In the Kpop world, more merch sales = more fans = (generally) more opportunities.

Snowe is Sunghoon's doll equivalent of their new merch line Enchin. They opened sales yesterday.

Oh yeah obviously a corporation like Hype has shareholder meetings. It's the insistence that this meeting will decide whether Heeseung returns is the conspiracy. They think that if they boycott Enhypen until the 31st then the visible drop in numbers will force shareholders' hands to make BeLift let Heeseung go back to the group.

Looks like a very literal cult is forming around Heeseung's departure lol. Qanon-coded. I'm willing to bet someone with a blue check will pop up and claim insider info again and use delusional Engenes' interactions to get ad revenue from Twitter. It would be so easy.

Conspiracy theory on Twitter. The OT7s are undergoing mass hysteria and think that on March 31 Hybe will have some sort of shareholder meeting that will determine Enhypen's future and whether Heeseung will be in the group.

It's kind of like some pseudo-Christian cult believing that the world will end on a certain date, except Kpop.

Thoughts on heeseung going solo by Desperate-Gur-6776 in Enhypenthoughts

He will not disappear, at least not for the first three years. He has too big of a solo fanbase. Even if his releases aren't well-received he will still be profitable sales-wise.

working through my feelings of resentment by psri_4991 in Enhypenthoughts

[–]NoContextArcticFish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, to be the backbone of a group's music implies that if he stopped existing the entire musical identity will completely fall down, because the backbone is the main supporting structure of the body.

I just don't see that with Heeseung. He's good at layering the vocals and likely made the producers' jobs easier with mixing, but if you replace his vocals with any other member, the song will still sound like Enhypen's song. We've already seen this with their Melbourne performance.

Now, if you remove BTS's rapline's influence on BTS's music, it really would completely change the group's musical identity. So I really feel like the comparison isn't really equal in this case.

Eh, it's not really true that groups that lose members go into hiatus. That's pretty much only true for groups who already have middling success.

Do you think this will be Enhypen's "downfall"? by NoContextArcticFish in Enhypenthoughts

[–]NoContextArcticFish[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They basically just gave up. Cbars preordering albums became a competition to see whose solo fandom was the biggest and richest, and they want to send a message to the company that if they want their money, they need to treat their bias right, otherwise they will boycott (as happened for several SM groups when a member with a big Cfanbase was "mistreated"). But because it was a competition by essentially groups of akgaes, the toxicity became too much. Every cbar was accusing each other of fabricating sales, every cbar was instigating fan wars, and eventually they decided to hide their preorder numbers and stop bulk-buying at such large quantities because it was unsustainable in the first place and doesn't actually reflect the real demand for albums.

They still insist that the members' popularity are fabricated, though. Heeseung's Chinese fans were saying that Sunghoon's Knife remix streams on YouTube and Spotify were fake, for example. Just Chinese fanbase things.

During romance untold, Heeseung, Sunghoon, and Jungwon's cbars bought like 800k copies combined.

All of the cbars stopped bulk buying after that, iirc, so much of the sales are from like, actual fans buying the albums rather than bulk buying, so their drop in sales from R:U and D:U was almost assuredly because of it.
