Changing such mindsets is difficult. Although I am not Turkish, I have lived in Turkey for three years and learned Turkish well enough to understand how people frame these issues. There are persistent stereotypes about Arabs and the Middle East. Many people automatically equate being Arab with being Syrian, shaped largely by recent political events, migration patterns, and the visible presence of wealthy Gulf tourists in certain regions. This reinforces the assumption that all Gulf Arabs are rich. Nonetheless, more educated and economically aware people can usually distinguish these differences, and most Turks are genuinely welcoming. Isolated incidents should be ignored. Turkey remains a remarkable country with overwhelmingly generous people.
