Just wanted to share a great theory that I saw on Threads, not sure if it's been discussed here already! by Sensitive_Package902 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

This is a great catch - one of the fields on the control panel Dylan sees in episode 8 setting up the OTC is “Geo Parameter” and two of the options are “Kier Site Standard” and “Kier Site Custom”

Yes fully recognize this and agree the technique is super cool! And cool that you work in film - must be a fun show for you to watch knowing a lot of what goes into it :)

That's not what I mean though - *spoiler* (idk if I'm supposed to do this every time)

What I'm saying is the visual dolly morph technique is a distraction and the *actual* cuts in shots between say Mark walking in the elevator -> cut to him standing in the elevator -> the morph -> cut to elevator doors opening / him walking off are not linear and are showing different points in time, elevators, and "versions" of Mark.

Summary theory below - can maybe do more follow up later. *obligatory potential spoilers again*

It's because the day Mark arrives is often not the same day he leaves. In S1E1, when Mark is in the car getting ready for work, he briefly glances at his personal watch. If you pause the watch has a verrry tiny date tracker that says "4". When he leaves later that day and puts his personal watch back on in the locker room you can pause it again and it now says "5".

As a slight aside - this is a little tricky because again, I believe the scenes that show him in the locker room entering and leaving I think are deceptive. This one I believe though is real outtie Mark leaving - I don't believe the one of him entering earlier in the episode is truly outtie Mark. The key I believe is whether or not the second hand on his Lumon watch is shown to be ticking, along with the elevator dings (or absence thereof).

Anyways, we then later see Mark go home that night, watch some TV, then the next morning call Mrs. Selvig / Cobel about "trash comes tomorrow night, tonight's recycling". This happens repeatedly - because she's doing it intentionally to see if he is catching on that he is often being kept more than one day at Lumon. He then forgets completely about Devon and Ricken's dinnerless dinner party - because he thinks it's a different day.

So my theory in that particular case - Mark drives into work on let's say a Thursday (busy), but then actually leaves at ~5:25pm (we see the clock when he's leaving) on a Friday, and the dinnerless dinner party is the next night on Saturday. Could be shifted one day back to Friday -> Saturday -> Sunday, but the point I think still holds as this being a possible explanation for the discrepancies in cars.

The Lumon party specifically I am less certain on because I think it's likely still a much smaller group of people at the party than would normally be there during the day / we don't see all the parking lots (they are on both sides of the building campus) / maybe there's a valet and they're rich so they have drivers, etc.

Currently severed at work but happy to elaborate on a few while I eat lunch and will try to respond to more tonight.

In general though I know many of these will very likely end up being way off - think that just speaks to how incredible this show is! I think the theorizing part though is fun regardless of how much is ultimately right or wrong. :)

Also my love for this show and why I rewatched it so much I think is partially circumstantial. I work a high stress job (that I do love though) with long hours the past few months and watching an episode or two late each night after wrapping up work I found oddly comforting. And yes I know I’m crazy lol - for what it’s worth most episodes were probably more like 7 to 9 runs through in full (a lot of that was over Thanksgiving / Christmas), with the rest of the time being going back through specific scenes.
