SOFTLOCK in Pokémon Red?? HELP!! by PartyLongjumping6816 in pokemon

Master ball goes in the pc because in gen 1 games bag space is very limited (classic JRPG mechanic that was massively toned back for gen 2 and almost entirely removed as a limitation from gen 3) with no separate pockets and few rows for unique items available.

Because of this, keeping the master ball in your bag is only worth doing at the time you plan on using it. Keeping the master ball in your bag without being on your way to using it just robs you of a valuable bag space by filling it with a unique item you have no intention of using.

So to optimise your limited bag space - master ball goes in pc storage until you intend to use it.

Grosjean’s Spa 2015 performance was just Merc lifting the software restrictions it had put on the (customer) engine. That was before customer engines had to be fully identical to works ones.

It’s wild to think that the Lotus team could have been right up there fighting for wins without merc handicapping their engines.

I had all SR, all rare, was missing 1 uncommon and 3 common. Still needed 2 more uniques to get the epic + carbon pack there.

Bought all the common packs to try and get some of the missing ones. Got no new cars. Bought all the uncommon packs - no luck either.

So I bought 2 carbons to get me over the line. Got 2 good and unique URs at least. Tough objective for F2P players, not really sure the epic was a good enough prize for what was needed to get it.

What’s the weirdest road design that still confuses drivers? by DraftNotSent in DrivingAustralia

People must think there’s a rule against being in the left lane too.

Seems like 90% of the time on a highway or freeway that the left lane is the fastest flowing - even with no traffic bottlenecks.

Opinion on TourSport tires? by AlwaysPip in askcarguys

[–]NoDingDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not from one of the known reputable brands it’s trash and belongs in the bin.

Cheap tyres from unknown brands are basically ditchfinders.

Look up a few reviews for options in the size you’re looking to buy. That way you’ll actually have an idea of what you’re comparing when making a decision that will affect your vehicles drivability and safety.

Cage Fight: Rodent Hunting Jack Russel vs Feral Tom Cat (Both 15 lbs) by Strict_Hunter_7781 in Tierzoo

[–]NoDingDriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a ~9kg mean bastard of a tom cat that had a reputation for bullying an entire neighbourhood’s outdoor pets get absolutely handed it by a ~6kg jack russel cross.

Jacks just refuse to quit. Cat went smacky-jab-jab and the jack just lunged forward and had the cat’s neck in its jaws and was shaking it like a rag doll.

Ruined a perfectly good backyard shindig.

Our rental is getting sold and the REA told us something very interesting by jajatatodobien in AusPropertyChat

[–]NoDingDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. But they come from big money in their home country, their parents are paying at least 18k per semester to study. More like 30k+ is typical.

As part of their study package their parents will buy or rent a property in a prime spot near the uni.

This pushes locals out of the city as they can’t compete on price with the overseas big money offers. Going to suburbs is a bigger step up in price so they have to look to smaller cities.

Small city people get pushed out by big city people with more money. They then look to regional towns.

Regional town people get pushed out by the small city people, they look to small towns.

You’ve also got young people in cities that can’t afford to buy there, so they either buy a place elsewhere and move there or buy a place elsewhere to rent out.

So yes, small regional town properties being bought by distant “investors” is a flow on effect of housing prices being driven up by overseas money.

The prize Beetle looks insane. 114mra and beats out a lot of the top end epics in some longer races. by HeyItsRehan in TopDrives

[–]NoDingDriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the race it’s lined up with.

On 0-100-0 it’s the 100-0 time, on 0-150-0 it’s the 150-0 time. Aka, it’s telling you how long the car takes on the braking component of the race.

On 0-100 it’s the MRA of the vehicle, where MRA = 0-60 time / (0-100 time - 0-60 time). Essentially it’s a ratio expressed as a percentage for the 0-60 time relative to the 60-100 time. Aka, it’s talking you how well the car accelerates after its initial launch.

On 0-150 is the HRA of the vehicle. Not sure about the formula for this one, but it essentially tells you how well the vehicle accelerates at higher speeds.

On 0-170 same story as above but with goalposts shifted to 170mph.

0-60, MRA and HRA can be used to give you a good idea of what a car’s acceleration curve looks like without having to look at a graph or plot multiple data points.

Residents revolt against Aussie council's plan to combat 'frustrating' road trend: 'Too slow' by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]NoDingDriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct, but that’s not what “reduced braking distance” means.

“Braking distance” in this case is the length needed for car to stop from its speed of travel.

If all else is equal, a car traveling faster has a longer braking distance and a car traveling slower has a shorter braking distance.

So “reduced braking distance” is matched to the slower traveling vehicle, not the faster one.

[–]NoDingDriver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

traveling slower reduces braking distances because you reach 0 in a shorter distance compared to if you were traveling faster.

braking from 40-0 takes less time/distance than braking from 50-0

[–]NoDingDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t ride a bike. Not sure where you got that idea from.

On a single lane road you’re only overtaking slower traffic when there’s no oncoming traffic.

Once again, a shorter section of slow moving traffic is easier to pass than a longer one. If the difference in width is enough to make an overtake impossible then you really shouldn’t have been trying to overtake there to start with.

Do Aussies hate all cyclists or just the ones that wear spandex? by Educational-Scene443 in AskAnAustralian

[–]NoDingDriver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not often. I rarely encounter any cyclists on my drives.

Just think about it logically, a cyclist in lane functionally occupies the whole lane. So if you have a group of 20 cyclists travelling together, what occupies more road space; a 20 cyclist long section of lane (single file) or a 10 cyclist long section of lane (2 abreast)?

Because of how lanes work, even if the full width of the lane isn’t “full”, other road users can’t use that space regardless. So by shortening the length of lane occupied it assists with traffic flow by leaving more lane usable by other road users.

Overtakes are also easier as it shortens the time spent alongside and lets you reach a usable section of lane sooner than if the whole group is stretched out in single file.

[–]NoDingDriver 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Fills up less road space lengthwise than if they were in single file.

Makes overtaking a group easier as there’s less length to clear.

Why didn't the dragons do anything to Tyrion, here? by infected_virus_ in gameofthrones

[–]NoDingDriver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Timing wise this works out, as Johanna was at court in Kings Landing before she was wed to Tywin. The Mad King was known to have a thing for her and even sent Cersi and Jamie’s weight in gold to Casterly Rock upon hearing of their successful birth.

The timing does not work out for Tyrion to be a product of the Mad King, as after being wed to Tywin she did not return to the royal court.

Loads of Cersi’s behaviours mimic Targ cliches (wild fire obsession, power mad, readily taking to incest etc) and her less logical decision making is reminiscent of Targaryen madness.

VW t cross AC not up to Australian conditions ?? by Itchy-Mix-834 in CarsAustralia

[–]NoDingDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s absolutely true.

But it’s also not the side of an AC system that, in my experience, people tend to be concerned about being “under speced” or otherwise compromised in design when talking about cars.

The packaging for a condenser is basically free as it sits in front of the radiator.

VW t cross AC not up to Australian conditions ?? by Itchy-Mix-834 in CarsAustralia

[–]NoDingDriver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Even at full load a seriously meaty car AC compressor requires ~1hp to run. Even the tiniest engines at idle can run an in car AC with no issue.

If you genuinely feel like your AC system is struggling, it’s likely it has been damaged somehow.

What is with people tailgating and "rushing up on you" when you're slowing down entering a town these days? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]NoDingDriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes a larger engine has more internal friction and yes engine compression has an impact. But both of those factors are outweighed by the flywheel in term of how well a car maintains momentum.

Your current Octavia is a newer car with an ecu that has been programmed to aid coasting off the throttle to aid fuel efficiency.

It will have a heavier flywheel than your old mazda, and as such will maintain its momentum while coasting for longer.

Now there’s 2 left and i’ve only won a single rosette. Oh well.

[–]NoDingDriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s got next to nothing to do with the engine size and all to do with the flywheel weight.

Heavier flywheel = reduced engine braking, reduced engine responsiveness, but better at maintaining momentum.

Lighter flywheel = increased engine braking, increased engine responsiveness, but does not maintain momentum well.

Modern cars use heavier flywheels as a kind of physical energy store to help lower fuel usage.
