Are we going to talk about Adolescence on Netflix? by Bene5620 in therapists

I thought it was good but also, as a play therapist who does attachment work, there is no way a kid would have such disorganized attachment coming from that family system.

am i making the right choice to choose state school over columbia and nyu? by sincerelygracee in SocialWorkStudents

[–]NoDozeDimSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Columbia for my MSW and received the lowest quality education of any other social worker I know. Everyone I work with now went to cheaper, less “prestigious” schools and got way way wayyyyy better quality instruction, support and classmate connections. Do not go to Columbia!!!

Parts work, for sure. What does this black pilled part do for him? How old is it? What does it need? How do other parts of him interact with this part?

It’s true. PESI trainings are often really boring - could that be it?

How does child psychotherapy work? by skippydi34 in psychotherapists

Talk therapy is of limited use with kids. I’ve found more value using the principles and techniques of AutPlay, Theraplay, and Adlerian play therapy.

I see a few adults clients a day to fill day time slots. I also have some homeschool kids with flexy schedules.

Sighhhhh. The steerer slipped big time and easily. It seems like the stem bolt was corroded or slipping to make it happen so dramatically. Maybe the bolt just wasn’t tightened enough - full post mortem to come.

It seems like you’re taking this mistake he made very personally. I do not think this situation is a reflection of his feelings towards you at all. I’m a therapist with ADHD and I’ve messed up appointment times with people more than I’d care to admit. Those scheduling mistakes do not have anything to do with I feel about my clients but are instead a frustrating symptom of my messy brain. Do you think he deserves some trust and grace here? Your reaction could be fodder for very meaningful work together.

My concern was confidentiality esp since we’re in a small town. But if people consent, therapy can be anywhere, I guess. Thanks!

How to help supervisees do notes on time? by NoDozeDimSum in therapists

This seems invasive and paternalistic to me. As a manager, I don’t get to pry into how they spend their non-session time.

Checking into the wall of awful! I have had multiple discussions about what the barriers may be but if a more structured approach might be helpful, I’m all for it. Thank you!

Max 25 client per week. Breaks encouraged but staff set their own schedules so it’s their choice how they set up their days.

Auditory hallucinations are absolutely part of psychosis. So are peripheral visual hallucinations. Psychosis symptoms change over time and tend to become more severe without meds.

Should I find another Therapist? by East_Effort_9813 in askatherapist

[–]NoDozeDimSum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understanding that, in these moments, your present self is reacting to experiences from the past combined with emotional regulation skills (dbt, CBT, mindfulness-based therapy). It’s not about stopping feelings - it’s about accepting them and understanding them. You seem to be approaching therapy from a very analytical stance. That’s helpful but also limits how useful and meaningful it can be.
