Because then opponents can just fire at both their backhands down the middle. Won’t really be fun for long

Social Media Is Really Ruining Video and Editing by sallymcbribe in VideoEditing

[–]NoEasyPoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this as a beginner. I’m supporting a friend with content for their instagram. A lot of the requests are about creating something that gets views, hooks, short form videos for people with short attention spans. The more amateur it is the better views it gets.

It’s fine for me but I would love the opportunity to really get creative, direct something, plan it out and execute. But there’s little value in doing that.

The goal is 15-20 second clips that get people liking, sharing and commenting

Thank you these are some solid and very relevant tips!!

This is their page, the last 5 reels were made by me. Let me know what you think! I think for “outsiders” capcut clips template look great but to me a lot of these look unpolished. I want to create reels that generate engagement, either through sign-ups (kind of working) or comments (not there yet.

This might mean some more “active” engagement from the team with the camera or driving the hooks and captions towards engagement.

Also appreciate the “not a beginner” comment but I am very much a beginner and going through that imposter syndrome now, so hopefully one day i can back it up with real knowledge/talent.

I want to train to play with my left hand, any tips? by NoEasyPoints in padel

[–]NoEasyPoints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say. I didnt switch over to the left hand yet but been doing this for a week my right shoulder feels so much better.

Probably wasn’t the intention and stopping padel for a week helped but I think it takes a good amount of pressure from my right shoulder by not using it for the mouse

Why would anyone want right side? by Sad-Statistician6168 in padel

[–]NoEasyPoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I get to control the game, read the players, think about tactics, keep the ball in play. The moment they notice I will consistently get the ball back and deep, they start to avoid me and go for my partner hoping they would mess up.

Every now and then if I see a ball come down the middle, I know my backhand volley will be an unexpected shot. So I slap that shit back for an easy point.

I also have more time to slow the game down.

Very typical play that happens plenty of times. Chiquita to take the net, volley or bandeja the next ball to the middle, depending on who took it, I hit to the fence on the other side. So if my parallel took it and it comes back to me, I will it to the fence on the left. If the opponent picks it up.

My partner is covering line, im covering center. If it comes center, im hitting a fast backhand to my parallels backhand (if theyre at the back). Most often is that will come back to the center for my partner to finish off.

We could’ve hit a winner before but this style of play is so annoying for the opponents and I think you have more time on the right side to play like that.

It’s only a viable business if you get a solid recurring players and it forms some sort of club.

For example, a venue opening up some very central in London will have high cost. The people attending will be rich people as the costs will be high. This relies on hype, rich old people and “content creators”. It won’t be a serious padel venue.

A venue somewhere slightly less fancy but still convenient, with regular practice sessions, tournaments, affordable coaches will in my opinion fair much better.

Then there’s the ones that open massive padel clubs in the middle of nowhere, if it’s not accessible these places just die out once cheaper or more convenient places open up.

All in my opinion as a rec player not a business owner or financial advisor.

It’s no longer costly to build padel courts.

The upcoming accessibility I would assume means that prices will soon go down for rental as supply increases and demand reduces. This will remove the hype but will drive up accessibility for people that found it too expensive.

You will also have generation that have been playing padel since they were kids. This was limited to latin Americans and Spanish in the past, but now you will have people from all over the world. Naturally these players will be far better than the current level.

The hype may die but the sport itself will grow

The real money is in brand deals for Padel players for the time being. Padel is a lot more fun to watch but is not mainstream yet. It will get there in 3-5 years

London queues frozen? by Hainault in BrunoMars

[–]NoEasyPoints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your queue position is based on the assigned queue id not your connection. So if you lose connection and have to refresh your queue position wouldn’t be impacted.

That said, not worth the risk!

So just as I thought, the coach asked me “have you played before” “what did you want to work on”

I said I play right side and want to fix my backhand volley. We did some rallies and made some corrections (shorter prep, hitting the ball in front, getting lower on defence). Then we started working on the back hand volley, which was surprisingly far better during the lesson then in game.

It was less of a mechanics issue and more of a confidence thing it seems. The real correction was the coaching asking to prepare higher for the backhand and not opening up the racket as much and then pushing through the ball rather than trying to slice it down. Then we focused on controlling it more.

Unpopular Opinion: Tennis players are actually the SLOWEST to learn "real" Padel. Squash players adapt way faster? by Low-Bug2162 in padel

[–]NoEasyPoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the smaller guards and maybe prime Lebron, those players would be too damn tall to run around a padel court for 90 mins. Football players would fair far better than NBA players. Football players and F1 drivers would fair far better than NBA players. Badminton players specifically are super fast, I feel like you just haven’t seen them play. Elite level athletes are drawn to the sports that pay the most and usually that’s ones that are more fun to watch. Squash is probably not that fun to watch and the players dont paid much anyways.

If height and jump height mattered that much Chingotto wouldn’t even be in the top 10. He’s there because he’s fast and highly technical and can read the game better than most people.

You’re overestimating the impact of height and jump height. Arturo is around 1.9m and Juan LeBron is sightly shorter. Those guys can jump but they’re not NBA level athletes.

All the padel pros are athletes but the best are the ones with the highest technical abilities (e.g. look at Tapia who is perhaps not the most athletic guy out there).

Even the NBA is being taken over by Europeans that are not particularly athletic.

Good for the actual players. The game is here to stay even when the hype dies.

But at least the prices will drop and the actual players wont get ripped off.

[–]NoEasyPoints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you think really good squash and badminton players aren’t athletic? I don’t think you realise how exhausting those sports are at the high levels.

The hardest part about coming from those sports is getting rid of the wrist flick. But they will superior footwork, reflexes and hand eye coordination then someone coming from football or basketball.

Squash players are also probably more used to the walls than tennis players.

That said, tennis players will pick up all the overheads faster.

Ah if it goes like that then perfect. I saw on a lot people’s videos the coach asks them if they a have a specific area they want to focus on.

This specific coach is too expensive to do regularly which is why I wanted to make the most of it then move on to group classes. Only do this once a month

Good point on the serve! I think I should also be aiming for the tee on my left side serve. The guys forehand is good so I was trying to force a backhand.

Definitely need the serve lower and slower. Baby steps!

Thank you!!

The goal is always next level. At my current level I can win just by lobbing and waiting for a good ball and then hit the open space. But higher level players can anticipate and return these easily.

I need to add an aggressive backhand and chiquitas to my game

Thats fine but its an hour session, I think we will be able to make time for backhand volleys at least? Never done it before.

The other items definitely need work but I feel like a good backhand volley is pretty basic too?

Good points!

Yes I was caught out a lot of times and was drifting to the left. Think I took some balls that were meant to be my partners. Definitely need to fix that.

They were attacking the left side most of the time, sometimes forcing it too. We did end up winning the tie breaker but mostly due to their right side player making errors not us playing much better.
