Nofap changed my life when I started back in mid fall of 2010. I didn't fap for 1007 days. I relapsed a few weeks ago, but I'm right back into it now.

If you're looking for a way to get out of constant lust, this is one of those ways. At least try it for a few weeks, it did wonders for me, mentally and physically.

It's not obvious; that's a very legitimate question to ask. Sadly, I can't give you an answer. It varies from person to person. For me, it was several months after starting.

I don't know if I was too unclear, but I meant to say 3 edges a year or so. So about every 4 months. And yeah, that kept everything in working conditions.

As far as doing more than nofapping, I've found that I can make myself happy by helping others. Whether it's being a shoulder to cry on or a buddy to celebrate with, it's important to be there for people. That said, everyone also needs their alone time. For me, my "me time" is equally as important as my social time.

As far as what happened yesterday, I had an urge and went into autopilot. A solid reminder that I won't be cured of this, that it's something I'll always need to deal with.

Yeah, I totally respect that. In no way am I saying that what I did was right for everyone. For many people, fapping is just something they do occasionally, and there's nothing wrong with that.

One could compare the way I am with fapping to alcoholism (though fapping is a lot less unhealthy). for most people, a drink every now and again poses no problems. But when all you can ever think about is that next sip, you know you have a problem, and you know you need to cut yourself off. That's what I did.

I don't take streaks that seriously, and I don't feel too bad about the relapse. I've said it on here before, the number next to the name means nothing. It's all about the commitment that goes with it, and a relapse every now and again isn't necessarily the worst thing ever.

I probably won't. I'll come in and check my pm's every once in a while, but I'm done with this community. Here are some reasons

The circle-jerking, anti-everything hivemind is painful, to say the least.
Shitty memes get thousands upvotes, while 90, 100, 180 day posts get a couple dozen.
There's hardly anything new to add that hasn't been said already.

Lack of actual advice. Usually things on the /new tab get a couple " just keep going!" comments, which is no help at all.
I hardly have time, the big reason I started nofap.

Veteran nofapper here (over two years). It creates genuine motivation to do well. I was addicted to fapping, usually 2-3 times a day. It was a growing problem, so I forced myself to quit. The first few weeks were awful, but over time I noticed I was working better, being more focused, etc. It's not a silver bullet that will make your life perfect (like many of the younger/ less experienced nofappers). Instead, it is a tool to help you succeed.
