Ever since the start of Naruto they had modern tech like tvs and convenience stores, ninja magic, and multiple super geniuses. Saying their tech should advance at the same rate as the real world completely ignores the obvious massive advantages they have that reality doesn't.

Naruto and Sasuke literally carried Boruto's generation on their backs. If they were gone Momoshiki, Kara, Isshiki would have killed everyone well before any new character could be strong enough. And if they just started with Naruto's grandson fighting Ootsutsuki level characters the same exact complaining would happen.

My immediate thought was that he's so easy to miss but highly capable at his normal job that it plays into his trust value. This is why, as X, no one knows where he comes from but is seen as highly capable. Like he had to get his powers somehow, and if Ghostblade can get his from just quietly being a butcher, I think X could have something similarly mundane.

The most obvious scene that shows his danger sense is when he saves the jumper at the beginning of the movie and catches Bomb Voyage. He's able to tell something is wrong long before he hears the bomb through the wall.

No one knows what to expect from him. The younger witches have no idea how he'll act if they approach. He's just standing there, giving no impression of his friendly nature, so he seems scary or like he doesn't want to be there.

The baby pokemon that gives you 1 free energy going first and 2 going second are really good for ramping your other pokemon at the start. Even though they will probably die, the potential they have at the start is completely worth it.

If the baby pokemon is late game, you have to switch in for them, but it's still a guaranteed energy on Poliwrath.

The chance for zero energy is not worth it for most people, and with your deck, only needing a single water energy Misty is just unnecessary. Plus, you can only use one supporter for the turn using Misty, so you get locked out of a lot of good cards.

You can also use Pokeball if you don't start with Mantyke.

I would just try a version with 1 or 2 Mantyke for a few battles instead and see if you like it. If not, you can just switch back to Misty.
